Rowing after a vasectomy...

Post by Recess » July 23rd, 2018, 4:21 am

Please feel free to PM me if this isn't something you'd like to talk about on here, but I'm looking for advice on how much exercise (obv erg is the worry, but also weights too) I'm able to do after the snip?

Any pain and discomfort I'd feel from not rowing while I recover will be tolerable of course when compared to the pain and discomfort of a third child! But it would be good to hear from other's so I know what I may be putting myself through in terms of time away from training.

Thanks,
John

Lol... sorry I can't help with the wait you need to have but I can say.
I ended up getting mine to late and ended up with 3 kids. And when I did get it done was lying on the couch and my eldest (She was 4 at the time) decided I needed an elbow to the affected area.... needless to say she got a hell of a fright when I screamed.
To be fair I wouldn't be without any of them and any pain suffered by having the extra child pales into insignificance at the immense joy and happiness that all 3 bring into our lives. Mine are now 23,21 and 19. All still live at home and it's going to be a quiet empty house when they leave.

Ha, thanks for the reply. That sounds like a particularly painful moment!

I guess it'll be what it is. Just wondering whether I'll miss the chance for a lot of this year's competitions if it is likely to happen around November time...

Been a few years for me, but I recall no exercise for a full week. After that, I had no ill effects and resumed normal physical activities. The key is to ice the area consistently for the first 48 hours to keep down swelling and inflammation. These early efforts will get you back quickly.
