problem w/ 2k

Post by eyespliced » May 5th, 2006, 2:24 am

hey, I just recovered from a really nasty sinus/lung infection (over spring break (april 9-15) i was sick for approx 8 days in bed, not moving much.
I had a 2k erg test last friday and i seem to have lost every bit of strength that I have been building up all of 2006.
my PR is 6:44.4 my last 2k was a 6:58.4 big freaking difference. (i did start out wrong (as if I had not gotten sick (i.e. starting out the 2k at a 1:38-9 for 5 strokes then (trying to)hold a 1:41) big mistake. btw

i prolly could have gotten atound 6:55 on it, but that is still bad.
so i guess my question is how long can I expect it to take to get back to were I was (and surpass it*hope*)?
thanks

yea, i think that is about right. at practice we did low rate (10 min) pieces(16-18-20-18-16 and 20-22-24-22-20) and i was able to hold a 1:55 easily) last week we did 15 min pieces and i was having trouble breathing after them) (both were close to 1:58-9/500m)
so yea, i guess I am on the mend now (thankfully)

I'm in this situation - I went from rowing 6:51.4 to times over 7:10 for at least a week after my respiratory problems.
