Does anyone know of a dvd or video that I can watch while rowing (I need to row for a minimum of 30 mins and although music helps, I think it would be great to have a video of a course on a river or something like that to help the time pass and motivate me to go longer/faster!

Funny you should ask about this. . . I sent C2 a question 2 yrs ago about the same exact thing. I have seen a similar idea with Nordic Track which had a DVD of a ski run and a cross-country ski video footage. I wondered if C2 had a similar product, but according to them, nothing existed like that for sale to the "ergers".
If some enterprising individual should develop this product, I think there is a market for it. In the meantime, I just settle for the "cardio theatre" and pick a good movie out of my collection to watch while I row.

It's been done and announced on this forum a while back, but I don't have the references.

I think this might be the thread that Bob is thinking of: "
Row the Head of the Charles on your Erg" which allows a ModelD to control Google Earth.
BTW, note the varying answers on the other posted threads, in "
FAQ" and "
Weight Loss & Weight Control". Perhaps a moderator could combine the threads?
Enjoy!

Like most people I watch the PM numbers. I found my math skills have really improved.
"Let's see, at 1:57.8 I should be done with this piece in 28 more minutes if my rate only drops by .5 per each remaining 2K."
I suppose somebody could mount a camcorder in the speed coach bracket and shoot a video over the stern, but not sure that would inspire me much.
The "Row the Head of the Charles" is an interesting thread to read.
Have you considered looking at RowPro or a similar product to run on a laptop? Having a programable virtual pace boat(s), or on-line real time fellow rowers is great isnpiration. You don't need to race them. Just find a person or group with similar goals and train together (be warned - friendly workouts can turn into cut throat races). I want to do a full marathon this winter, but won't consider it unless I have a group to row with.
