Taking part in one of Concept2's individual challenges? This is the place to talk about it.

Holiday Challenge "journey"

Post by Cyclist2 » December 7th, 2010, 2:06 am

In order to keep us working out when we'd rather not, my friend and I started a virtual journey from Grand Junction Colorado to Albuquerque, New Mexico (his home town and my mother's residence), a distance of almost exactly 800,000 meters. We started on October 1st and are rowing the ergs and riding our bikes (only 1/4 of the bike meters are logged, just to keep us in the erg "range"). We were slightly more than half way when the Holiday Challenge started, and the weather has kept us on the erg and off the bike, which has definitely slowed things down. As of today (12/6) I have to erg almost 11,000 meters per day to make it by Christmas eve. It's sure easier to track progess when you can see how far down the "road" you are going! I think I'll make it, he's a ways back but is a stong finisher!

Well, I made it to Albuquerque today! Last row today was 31,000 meters at a 2:06.9 pace. That gave me 283,699 m for the Holiday Challenge. My buddy made it almost to Santa Fe (he's not a real erg fanatic like some around here :D ) but put in a valiant last effort (14021 m today) to finish the Holiday Challenge with just over 200,000 m. Great way to stay motivated and engaged. See you "on the road" next year!

Congratulations!
I find that is a nice way to motivate myself also.
I hope you enjoyed the trip :)
