Another with a clunking noise

Post by VLL » August 11th, 2018, 6:48 pm

It's only my 4th workout on my new BikeErg, and I've got a clunking noise that sounds just like what another user had and posted about last October. His turned out to be a bad bearing in the crankshaft. That sure sounds like what mine could be -- sound is coming from that area somewhere. The phones are closed at Concept 2 or I'd call. But in the meantime, I'm curious -- have others had the problem? Has it turned out to be the bearing each time?

Guess I won't be riding my new BikeErg for at least a short while . . . .

Tomorrow pick up the phone and call Concept2. They will help you fix it or replace it.

Yep, plan to make that call first thing. The weekend has prevented me from doing it yet. Thanks.

Just to close the loop on this . . . I called Concept2 this am. It proved the value of calling support as soon as possible. They had it fixed in less than a minute. It wasn't the bearing (which the support agent assured me is very rare). It was just a single screw that somehow guides the belt that needed just a bit of tightening. All it took was about a quarter turn to cinch it down as tight as it would go. Bingo. Fixed. Easy peasy. So the advice is this: Call Concept 2 in the unusual instance that there is an issue with your BikeErg. The fix may well be easy, and taken care of in the blink of an eye. Great product. Great support.

Do you know remember where the screw was located? I have a similar issue.

I believe it's the bolt on the r/h side below and to the right of the "bike erg" decal.
