I like it. Only available in the US and Canada though :(

Couldn't see a price either? I presume they will cost in the ballpark of a new model D or E.

Early 2018 in Europe and I assume rest of the world. Price is US $ 990 plus shipping.

I have not been able to reach the site since I saw this this morning. Is the new machine really generating that much traffic on the site?

How does that differ from their existing "Watt Bike"?
http://concept2.com is borked right now.

Price? Think this will be a lot cheaper.

Watt bike is $2900 USD... this is under $1000 USD. So yes a helluva lot cheaper.

Done some digging, and Concept 2 have no affiliation with the company who make the Watt Bike anyway.

While both the Concept2 Indoor Rower and the Wattbike are fine pieces of equipment that provide a very effective means of exercise with accurate and immediate feedback, the two products and their companies are completely independent from each other and have always been.

So they had the same directors and same registered office but, of course, they're entirely unrelated. They are separate legal entities (in just the same way that any limited liabilty company is separate from any other) but there's no denying they are somewhat related. the WattBike uses the same flywheel sensor tech, same logcard, same microcontroller as a PM3 (different firmware, obviously). But, what the heck, they aren't "affiliated" (whatever that means).

I wish C2 all the best with the BikeErg, but have to say that as a cyclist (and owner of LeMond RevMaster stationary bike that gets little use) the main reason I row is that I find that if I'm forced to exercise indoors instead of out, rowing is much preferable to me than the mind-numbing boredom of spinning pedals and going nowhere. After about 10 minutes of riding a bike inside my brain turns to mush. Erging, on the other hand, requires a completely different mental approach, and for whatever reason I find it much more "entertaining" (if I can use such a word for a self-torture device) both mentally and physically.

certainly makes more sense from the TCO concept.
Established platform, wider fanbase, cost reductions.
could be some attractive service/maintenance contracts with gyms, x-fit etc.

sounds like a sound idea to me...

Im exactly the opposite.. I use the C2 because it is "good" for me but cannot get away from counting strokes and distance so mentally it is tough,, on the other had I find my TACX interactive trainer totally entertaining and often(almost) forget Im just pedaling in my spare bedroom.

For indoor training, I prefer the erg over a trainer or stationary bike. However, I sometimes use cycling training videos for my erg workouts. I have "cycling for power", "climbing", etc. I find it's much harder to get through one hour of those videos on the erg than on a trainer. I think this fall I'm going to get a couple more of those videos where they are riding on the roads in beautiful or epic places - nice scenery along with a killer workout.

Incidentally, if I was in the market for an air resistance cycling trainer like the BikeErg, I think I'd get a Schwinn Airdyne for a full body workout. I used one of those for some physical therapy a while back and I was sweating in short order.

For bike training I'm sticking to the road and the Great British weather. Static bikes, Watt bikes, TACX turbos, etc. aren't worth it when you can go and play with the traffic.
