clunking noise from behind me

Post by Farmer192 » May 31st, 2025, 10:24 am

I've been using my StrengthErg for 6 weeks now about 3x a week. Every time I use it, there is a clunking noise coming from the rear of the machine. More pronounced when doing leg presses. Doesn't seem to matter how much force I put into it, but more clunking under more pressure. I've triple checked the tightness of all the bolts, nuts, and screws, but the problem will not go away. It is NOT the drive cord.

This clunking is not accompanied by a "jerking" or gaping in the movement of the machine. Everything seems to move smoothly, but the noise is accompanied by a vibration I can feel in the seat. I had someone touch the back of the machine while I pushed on a leg press and they could feel the vibration. Again, this is not an issue with the drive cord.

Has anyone experienced this? At first, I thought it my be part of the "break in". but it has only gotten worse over time.

Posting to confirm that I've had the same issue. Something in the flywheel itself is clunking, and then related to that but also separate, there is a much louder noise coming out when I lean extra pressure toward the left side. It's almost like the seat is compressing under my weight and making contact with the flywheel. For the less-intense clunking noise, it often continues after I walk away at the end of a set. Like, something in there is continuing to tick over and clunk as the flywheel is coming to a stop? I'm a bit too dumb with this sort of thing to investigate further on my own.
