I'm 59/F. Not super fit but got into the row and ski erg. What I have learned about myself is that having equipment at home is far more likely to get me moving. I do strength training at the gym but with my schedule don't get there as much as I'd like.
I think I'm more looking for justification, but I keep reading how important it is to work the major muscle groups regularly as we age. I follow Stacy Sims advice to focus on HIIT and strength and keep falling short on strength due the gym attendance issue.
From an aging/health perspective, will using the strengtherg regularly help me hit those markers the researchers keep telling us about? I'd still go the gym for more variety, but with a strengtherg I think I'd get more frequency.
I could still just do squats, and will, but knee and ankle issues from old injuries are definitely a significant part of the picture now. Have to use TRX straps for lunges. Sounds like the strengtherg is accommodating for these issues.
Thanks in advance for any feedback! What is the optimal times per week to use for aging support?
StrengthErg for general aging support
Re: StrengthErg for general aging support
I have one and I find it's perfect to maintain muscle that comes with aging. I have powerblocks and find I can do the exercises I need to. I am slowly selling off my home gym since I have shoulder and hip problems and can't do so many movements including nothing overhead. I struggled doing things that I probably shouldn't have so this is exactly what I needed. Plus, I can knock out a pretty good workout in 30 min, including my db work. I also have a rowerg but strengtherg has much more potential to build muscle. I'm a soon to be 73yo F.
