What are your times ??
I am wondering what everyone's times are for about 5 k. I just ask because I can't compare myself to a lot of people because I am shorter (5'3"). I am a lightweight also. Some of the men are getting such impressive times but they are nearly 6 feet tall.
I did a 5 k in 25:35 yesterday. Not that great I would think, but I did take tiny breaks during it because I was thirsty. I got a great workout and improved my time so I was pretty happy !
My spm is about 26 and the meters/s is about 2.35

Thanks, I did look at the ranking section. I guess I was just curious what the heights were for those people. I wish they had those listed! I was surprised about how close everyone's times were. They are nearly all within about 5 min of one another.
I don't think a small change in height would mean much in times but I am sure that I could never go as fast as someone that is 6 feet tall.

I am 5'5 with short legs and long arms & torso. I think my 5k meter time is around 25 mintes. I need to start paying more attention. I usually go 12k meters in about 60 minutes. As long as you feel you're getting a good workout, that's all that matters! Your time seems right on to me, and you'll keep building speed and strength as you keep rowing!

Height matters some when comparing with others, but less so than you may think. While elite rowers are big and tall, neither of us will ever be that, so most of us mainly compete against ourselves. The rankings are a fun way to get motivated, particularly as you start to move up in your age. I am sure that there are plenty of 5'3" women in the rankings.
So, you are rowing about a 2:35 pace. Looking back to the very beginning of my log, I also started at around 2:35 pace, doing a 3855 for a 20 min row. That would work out to a 26 min 5k more or less in 1997. I remember thinking rowing was awfully hard then too. But in 10 years I have gotten almost 8 minutes faster, while during that time I am 100% sure I haven't gotten any taller.
One of the best and most interesting aspects of the C2 is that as you get faster you will reset what you even can believe is possible for you. So right now say rowing a 22:30 min 5k (that is 2:15 pace) may seem impossibly hard to you, but I row with women online just like you rowing that pace.
Your stroke rate at around 26 is an ok number (and if the 5k was an all out personal best row, it may be low). But you are not getting much power from each stroke relatively, so my first thought is that you may be able to get to 2:25 pace or so just by improving your technique and getting more efficient, so while still working just as hard you go "faster" at a lower pace.
I will stop there though and get back to work since this is the women's forum and I shouldn't probably be here anyway...

1K times?
I ranked myself on the rankings section of the site for the 1K and today I'm in the top 20.
I used to row recreationally but have moved and now I am doing indoor this winter.
A few days ago I did a 1K in 4:22 and then today I did a 1K in 4:08 - I'm 27, heavyweight, and about 5'6. Does this sound like good progress for just one workout?

Should have been height classes instead of wheight classes! As height is more important as well as being a factor you can't change. I moaned about being short for quite awhile. That was, until I went to Ergomania and watched the 2000 meter competitions. I am a heavyweight and about 5'3" and at that time I was 61 yo. The lady who won is about 5'1" and a lightweight and 3 years older than me. She beat me by about 50 seconds .
Her technique/form was so much better than mine. After that I put a mirror up next to my erg and worked on improving my form. That included drag factor, stroke rate, etc.
I'm just getting back on the erg after a couple of years off. I take it easy, as I have a bad case of arthritis in my spine. So, here is my time for 5000
drag factor: about 110
stroke rate: 20-21 spm
time: about 26 mins
500 split about 2:36
I suggest you try the mirror thing. If you can't do that have someone video you while rowing and take a look at your form that way. Let us know how you do. I think you will be amazed at the difference.

It takes time, however your endurance will go up.
