Need help deciphering workout please!

Post by christol » November 29th, 2007, 1:38 pm

I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this, as I think I should know it, but.....

Does: 2x(5x4'on/1'off @ 24,26,28, 26, 24)

Mean this?

Row this twice:

At stroke rate of 24, 26, 28, 26, 25, row 4 minutes with 1 minute of rest, do this set for 5 times.

So in all I'd be rowing (not including rest) a total of 200 minutes?

If that's not what it means, please clarify!

Thanks so much!

Not quite that much rowing...

2x(5x4'on/1'off @ 24,26,28, 26, 24)

2 sets of:
4:00 on x 1:00 off with rates (during the '4:00 on') of 24, 26, 28, 26, 24.

Each set will take (5 x 4:00) + 5:00 off (25 minutes)
Presumably the 'off' is paddling for 1:00 at whatever slow pace allows some recovery. AKA "Active Rest".

Take 5-10 minutes between sets.

Any more clear?

2 sets of 25 minutes each. You row 4 minutes at rate 24, rest one minute, row 4 minutes at rate 26, rest one etc......

Take a set pause and do the second one.

Wow, Henry and I both interpretted it the same, the wonders never cease! Now if I could just get him straightened out on a few other things...

Just to let you know: I find some of the annotations very hard to decipher, in spite of having seen many different ones over the years, no need to be embarassed.

Short but simple for the same workout might be:

2 x (4:00 on x 1:00 off pyramid, SR's 24, 26, 28, 26, 24)
Rest 5-10 min between sets, Set time = 25:00

Row 4' @ 24, 1' rest, 4' @ 26, 1' rest, 4' @ 28, 1' rest, 4' @ 26, 1' rest, 4' @ 24, 1' rest

Then repeat.

You've not said how much rest between the first 25mins and the second. Is the 1' rest active or passive?
