Hi Paul,

I am assuming all this is just entertainment, but in case not, I should warn you that Ranger will not show up for an OTW race so you would be wasting your time if you make the trip.

By the way, usually the college crews row OTW until Thanksgiving vacation in this area, but last year we had an unusually early cold spell and according to my log book on Nov 21 there was some ice and on Nov 29 I was crunching through thin sheets of ice.

Well then, I can just prove him completely wrong, if I don't even get a chance to beat him. And I realize that's a risk, the ice and all, but I am willing to show up regardless - a challenge is a challenge, I'm not going to be the one to step aside.

Who knows, I may meet someone else to race out there! Make some good contacts.

You're on!

See you then/there.
Out of interest is this race still on?

If so, the result should be interesting.

The race went off as planned on Saturday out on Portage Lake northwest of Ann Arbor.

Paul didn't show.

So I just paddled a 2K and won the challenge.

Damn, I guess I gave you your only completed race of the season. Now if only there was proof and registration and actual race marshals and a real time for your row.

Gonna show up at WIRC? No excuses!

No need to row fast.

A win is a win.

You didn't show.

Hi Paul,
Ranger wasn't there either. He does not do OTW races and he does not row when it is cold. It is just as well that he does not row when it is cold. Have you seen the video I referred to in the OTW section?

Hi Henry,
Here are a few familiar lies.

Indeed I will.
Just as he will have no problem sending me $3000 when I win both the bets.

Yea, time has run out.
Oh well.
Don't much feel like doing a 2K, given that I still haven't sharpened for one.
2Ks hurt pretty badly if you aren't ready for them.
Hey, hjs, any possibility of modifying our $1000 bet along the lines of our $3000 bet?
A time extension would be _greatly_ appreciated.
That might be a squarer deal, given my situation (unprepared!).
I need to get sharpened up if I want to be doing 2Ks without a lot of grief.
Training is coming along great--but slowly.
Too slowly, it appears.
One last cry for mercy!

Byron--

I miss your hat avatar.

Who gave you that funny thing anyway?

People who wear hats when they row are nutty.

Well Rich, more proof that you indeed are just nutty.
Oh.

_That's_ what a scullie is!

http://www.collegiategreek.com/Scullies.asp

No problem.

I already wear a scullie when I row.

Perhaps that's why my abs are so strong.

At one point, when I was rowing to the WR in my 2K at WIRC 2003, the announcer of the race called me "hat man."

I am not sure that wearing a hat is as good for your abs as jackknives, though.

To each his own, I guess.

No more proof needed.

I am indeed good at erging.

If you can take about a minute off your 2K time, you could say the same.

Best of buck with it.

We're talking about your horseshit about actually being at the lake. Not your times. Nobody gives a rats ass about what you think about yourself. And if I could take a minute off mine, I'd be the greatest lightweight in the history of the sport, at my height and weight. And I'm not looking for that.
