Heart of Texas Regatta

Post by alyomar13 » March 5th, 2012, 6:32 pm

I row for Highland Park Crew, and the Heart of Texas regatta just passed, and the racecourse is a 1000 meter straight stretch. I raced in 3 boats, and 5 races and was ready to race in the Lightweight Race. We came first with a time of 3:00.68. Proof is on this website: http://austinrowing.org/liveresults/day2results.html

Not 1 eight has proceeded to nationals on this team, and this is pretty much a new team from 2001. Do you think our lightweight boat has a chance of going to nationals, if our competition (Jesuit College Prep. and OKC) is close behind? We have yet to have a sprint race of 2000 meters yet, I need your opinion on if we continue, what our goal split should be if all of us weigh 157-158 and everyone except 1 person pulls under 7 minutes on their 2000 meter erg piece. Everyone in my boat is 17-18 years of age except me, and 2 other people. I am the youngest one, as everyone is 16+.

I expect constructive criticism and questions :) Thanks!
