Steven, i think it is your current ranking for the upcoming continental heats, based on your submitted time. So a rank out of a minimum of 150 possible entries for 2k, male, lwt, your continental region, all age groups. Just a coincidence that it matches the c2 logbook placing when sorted by country etc.

So not impressed. Ever time I try to enter I discover a new and strange requirement. The latest - weigh in, must at least 1hr before I race. This disqualified my time from today.

Coming back from an injury, I had an awful time - 8:28 for 2km. I thought I would at least post a time.

It looks like you still have time to make a [valid] entry. See this update:

Hey, for any US rowers (especially LW rowers who rowed yesterday in USRAs) who still want to enter WRICH: The extended deadline expires at 12 noon Central European Time on February 3. SO, by my calculations, that is at 6AM EST on February 3. Right?

The reason I mention LWs who participated in USRAs: No extra proof of weigh-in is required. Simply copy and past the URL from the USRA leaderboard for your event/result, and WRICH will automatically accept your weigh-in.

Easy! (sorta  )

I see that for the Continental Heats Lightweight weigh-in it states:

A labelled test weight in kilograms or equivalent (such as a dumbbell or weighted plate) being placed on the digital scale to be used, with a clear reading of the weight indicated on both the test weight and the digital scale reading visible. The weight cannot be a modifiable weight (i.e. a sandbag, adjustable dumbbell, etc.), the video must show the weighing of a labelled "calibration" weight, before removing it and weighing the rower.

I just did a test with my weighing machine (unadjustable electronic device), and a 2.5kg labelled weight (my heaviest) shows only as 2.4kg. I weighed this weight and others on a weighing machine used for the range 1g to 5kg and it shows the correct weight of 2.5kg. This is possibly as weighing machines designed to accurately weigh humans, do so accurately in a range such as 30 to 150kg.

So, my question is: as my weighing machine shows only 2.4kg for a weight labelled as 2.5kg, is this likely to cause a problem?

Even if my 67kg weight on the weighing machine is adjusted up from 67kg to compensate the difference in the actual 5kg weight and what is showing in the display, that would put me at 67kg / 2.4kg * 2.5kg = 69.8kg. This is still about 5kg lighter than the lightweight rower limit.

Any thoughts, as I imagine I'm not the only one who will have this challenge (labelled weight not showing the exact weight in the display). Many thanks.

I used something heavier, but had the same sort of problem. I discovered that I could get the right weight depending on exactly where I set the weight on the scale.

Thanks. I Just tried that. Unfortunately I get the same result.
And just tried with a borrowed 5kg weight - which reads 4.8kg.

I had a similar problem filming my weigh-in last year (which I did at 3am in a hotel gym, before rowing on a rented erg! ) I just kept going through their rack of dumbells until one registered correctly. A pain, but I’m not sure what the alternative is.

I'm very sure 50kg wouldn't read as 48. Probably you need to get a weight, which is heavier and more in the typical range of a scale for humans.
Another fact why strength training is so important - you have bigger plates at home for weigh in

Glad I didn't enter then. My 4kg dumbells register as 0.0kg on my scales.😀

Technical question. The WRICH recommends a USB A-B cable to connect the laptop to the PM5 monitor. My laptop has only USB C ports and my PM5 has no B ports. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

You will need a USB-C to USB-B cable to connect your monitor to your computer.

@ Citroen. Thank you very much. The USB C is as I expected. Unfortunately the PM5 (which is only a couple of months old) does not have any openings that look like the square USB B slot. I've written to WRICH for their advice. (I'd have been better off keeping my old PM3 which gave me good service for 15 years!)

I've just been in touch with WRICH and they tell me I need a USB C - USB C cable.
That's what happens when you try to keep your equipment up to date!
Hopefully this will be useful for anyone with a new PM5.
(Just wasted £5 on the USB A-B cable.)

Ah, you have a very modern PM5.
You'll need a USB-C to USB-C cable.
