Re: Finnish Half Marathon and Marathon
Please note that you are going to be entering the Open event, (unless you have connections to Finnish Rowing). Also that generally under 23s do 60 minutes, all women plus men over 70 do half marathon, and men 23-69 do full marathon although it is possible for women to do full marathon or men to half on request for the Open category. Closing date 16 April for entries.

Hoping to take part - mostly likely at the local gym, unless circumstances allow.
PS English speakers shouldnt have a problem here, (I doubt I know more than 10 words of Finnish), but google translate helps get the entry right.

Re: Finnish Half Marathon and Marathon
I was trying to send you a photo but cannot shrink it enough.
Hotel Krapi wasnt like it sounds.
I got a last minute trip as mum was still in hospital. I rocked up expecting the pre-2 hour weigh in but noone in sight at 8am. I went down to the lake for a while as there wasnt much action before 8:45. Just made 61.5kg.
There is a choice to row indoors or out - easy choice for me as it was 1c and snowshowers, (but probably a third of folks wanted the cold, and with the door open it wasnt that much warmer inside).
Recorded 1 hour 46 mins and 4.5 secs. Never really got going but considering everything else going on in my life and last minute preparations got to be grateful that I did it and no bad back afterwards . 3rd out of 4.
Did get some sightseeing done but missed out on the salmon soup - took a while to realise why this costs around 15 euros because initially you might think that sounds like a big rip-off. Actually it is large chunks of salmon and there is bread/potato to go with it so it could be a meal. Bah - I tried 3 places and they had run out.
I expect that I will do 2026 locally but I will keep everyone posted on the details.

Well done for giving it your best in difficult circumstances. Stress definitely can take a significant chunk out of you.

Well done for getting there Susan, let alone doing the deed and placing third - looks like you were the only non-Skandi. I see that the 60+men do a FM not HM. Obvs serious punters only need apply! Very impressive all round.

Re: Finnish Half Marathon and Marathon
I think I was the only foreigner in the live event but may well have been some virtual competitors in the Open event.
PS Hopefully rock a better half marathon tomorrow for Sub7 which will be my 47th at this distance.
