Or simply time based, for longer Ctc s you have both sides that way. The faster rowers can get a high volume session in, and the slower ones stay below 45 min. In this case I expect the fast guys to pull 1.30
Maybe 45 or 50 second reps instead of 300m. But he, not a Oarsome team member, so nothing to really say :P
I'm with you on that too Henry - makes sense 50"/1'R or the other way around - but we aren't TO either.
Absolutely!! Timed avoids the need of additional rules and a de facto minimum pace qualification requirement for wrinklies and fitness rowers.

20x 75 seconds r1 would be 45 minutes, including the last 1 minute rest.

We stand by our choice: 20x300m R1:00.
Excellent - love a lot of intervals - there will be some impressive numbers I suspect

Hello, would like to get involved with the ctc to add some competition into my training... Any spare seats going? 25 year old heavyweight making his way down to lightweight slowly.

Forum Flyers welcomes all but it’s B.Y.O.S[eat]. We are currently filling 3 to 5 boats per month in CTC and need a larger pool of indoor rowers active thru the summer months. We also need lwgts, women, young bucks, fast hwts, and anyone keen to give it a go. Check us out at our team page on this forum or on social media sites.

I'd say that there's always spare seats in all of the teams, and there's loads to choose from. I row for Team Oarsome but I assume you can contact any of the other teams through social media as well

Some really restrict memberships, so those are to be joined on invite only.

I never knew that. I guess there is quite a high drop out rate of members so it makes sense.

Think CTC participation coincides with peak interest in training and fast track performance gains for many. Quite common to become inactive when one reaches a goal and chooses another sport rather than face maintenance “goals” in the current one. Merit badge collectors add some punch to a team over the short term.

There are stayers who, altho not easily defeated by boredom and marginal return on investment, are benched by injury, medical conditions, family responsibilities, work commitments. Many in the latter group make comebacks. Stubborn folks and reliable over the long haul. Very interesting people I think.

Birds of a feather? Why not? You can row fast as an individual on any old CTC team. But, if you want to be in the #1 challenge boat, a waiting list and vetting is the way to go. Different strokes. I’m slow enuf I wouldn’t want to join a team dimwitted enuf to recruit me! But obviously there are elite teams worth waiting for the call to slot in.

Well, I see I got to do this ossam Oarsome thing in 45’ to include 19’ rest so 26’ total time for 6k active meters or 2:10/500m av. Did a trial run 30 May no warmup. First was 2:29.8. From there I worked my leisurely way down to 2:19 av., last iteration at 2:00.8. My 6k continuous pb @ 2:10 so I might have a chance if I target 2:10 and hold on until the final 2 or 3 iterations :?: The sad part is that success and failure are a binary choice until they aren’t. 😢

MAD made a strong start to the new season by winning the May challenge. Sub7, with fourteen boats, had the largest fleet on the virtual river.

DLC Gidea Park has the July challenge, ESPRIT the August and GARAGEATHLETE, as a new team, has claimed the September nomination.
