TT #7 Done, 60'

Post by Bob S. » February 4th, 2015, 2:12 pm

Three weeks, one WR broken and 6 new ones set. Today was 12220m in one hour (2:27.2), on a grounded model D and verified. 58', at 20spm, 1' at 24spm, and 1' all out. Average over those last 2' was 35spm, and the last minute was in the 40s. I did spot a 48 at one point. The pace in the penultimate minute was the high 2:1xs and I was seeing 2:0xs in the last minute.

That 20 rate can't be fun. You are tough as nails and then some! Jack
There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

It is a matter of conditioning, Jack. I use 20spm for most of my UT1 sessions and even slow end AT pieces, so I am accustomed to it. Plus the mantra X, 2, 3 (X = number of the particular stroke) really helps to get me into the zone. I count them up to 100 and start out at 1 again. Another advantage of 20spm for me is that 10m/stroke is at my AT/UT1 borderline - just a tad below actually. So if the meters completed (on a time set piece) is 10 X # of strokes, I know I am holding at 2:30 . In this case I was shooting for a bit under 2:30, so I made sure that the distance total was a little more than 10 X # of strokes and that it was gradually increasing. There were other clues, of course, like the cumulative pace average and the projected finish, but the variety of data sources helps to relieve the boredom of a long piece.

I don't know about tough - I am just a stubborn old (chose your own expletive). And I dread facing the cold, slippery streets of Boston at the end of this month.
