2007-2008 Rowing Goals
2007-2008 Rowing Goals
Greetings,
Do you set goals for your training? What are your training for the upcoming 2007-2008 season?
Here are a few of mine:
1. Break 8:00 2k (currently 8:17.4)
2. Row 1.5 Million meters on the erg
3. Break 22 min. 5k (currently 23:14)
4. Get to 10% Body fat (currently 14%)
If I reach them too early in the season I'll reset my goals. What are your goals?
Best regards,
Bryan

1) keep practicing breathing out exercises;
2) keep getting stronger, with floor exercises, weights, rollerboard, and fixed seat rowing;
3) run repeats in the hills when possible;
4) increase my meters and the length of sessions and distances from 2006/7 through 2007/8;
5) better all of my ranking times from 2006/7 through 2007/8;
6) participate in the nonathlon;
7) participate in the ctc when they have distance events that fit in my schedule;
8) improve my Perathlon scores.
Amazingly, my meters for 2006/7 will pass 2 million on the last day of this month. With my 35,864 total so far, another 4,136 will put me over 40 million meters. It would be nice to reach this in 2008.

At the moment, I only have goals that I want to meet by the end of the summer:
1) Sub 160 lbs (I'd be a terrible fattie rower)
2) Sub 7 2k, preferably somewhere around 6:45
3) Sub 18:30 5k/3mi time (haven't been running much, need to get back in it.
4) Get back on the water
Think I'll accomplish goal 4 when I get back to school in the fall.

1) break 8 minutes on 2K (within a month or so)
2) break 7000 meters for 30 minutes (within 3 months)
3) break 20 minutes on 5K (by the end of the season)
4) loose 8 kg in the proces (I'm afraid my fat percentage is close to 25%)
Bryan, I hope you keep posting your PB's. It's very motivating to have someone on the forum with similar PB's on 2K and 5K. There seem to be a lot of 'sub7s' out there...

I'm currently 47 years old, 99kg (218) and 1.88 meters (6'-2"). I have been erging since March. My goals for this season are (with current best shown in parenthisis):
500m 1:29.9 (1:32.5) (as of 5/1/07 PB is 1:31.6)
2000m 7:30 (7:40.9)
5000m 20:00.0 (21:42.0) (as of 7/26/07 New PB 20:11.3)
30 minutes 7500m (7186)(as of 8/3/07 new PB 7240)
Non erging goals:
Deadlift 475 Lbs (460)(New PB 465 on 6/9/07)
Bench Press 225 lbs (195) (new PB 215 on 6/13/07)
Clean and Jerk 225 lbs (185)
Squat 350 (315)
What do you think? Are they reasonable goals? I think out of all those the first to fall will be the 2000m.
Thanks,
Jack

based on your size and how long you've been erging, I think your rowing goals will fall fairly easily and you'll have to update them soon. Good luck!
Bryan

I just broke my first goal with 7:55.6 2k! So I am adjusting this goal to 7:40 2k. I anticipate breaking my 5k goal this Friday, so I'll update that goal too when the time comes.
Best regards,
Bryan

I just got my 5K goal with a time of 21:58.7. I am going to update this goal to 20 minutes. So far this year, it's going well, having had to adjust two of my goals already. I hope the same for everyone else.
Best regards,
Bryan
