Excel rowing log

Post by Kate » May 30th, 2006, 5:12 pm

Maybe this is only useful for me, but I find it to be tremendously helpful for keeping me motivated. At the beginning of each year-long rowing season, I set an annual goal. Then I figure out how many meters I have to row every day to make that goal.
This year I decided to make a little Excel spreadsheet that continuously keeps track of my progress. I made formulas for it, so I just input however many meters I have rowed on a particular day, and it calculates the total so far, how many I should have rowed, the difference (How far ahead or behind), the average meters per day, and the number of days ahead or behind I am.
That way even if I just row 2k in the morning, I can at least see that I got something done today, as well as seeing how well I am doing on a continuously updating sheet.

It really works for me, so I thought that if anyone else wanted a copy, it would be really easy for me to modify a blank copy for whatever annual goal people wanted, and e-mail it to them.
500,000 meters per year = ~1370 m/day, so I made that sheet at 1400 m/day, which gives you an annual total of 511000.
1,000,000 meters = 2740, so I rounded that to 2750 m/day, which gives you 1,003,750 meters for the year.

If anybody wants a copy of this sheet, feel free to message me with your total goal and any other information you think would be useful in the sheet.

Actually, what I'd love is an Excel worksheet that makes charts, graphs, and summaries of all the data that I export from my PM3 logcard.

The logcard utility does a nice export of a .csv file that opens in Excel; all my data are there but in raw form. I could create graphs and reports myself but it seems like a lot of work; surely someone out there has done this already?

kate, i would like to grab a copy please.
Obviously my target is my first Million. I had planned on doing 100,000 a month, depending on my travel.
The travel has really knocked me around, so the more i have to motivate me the better.
Kicks my butt..
