I have been struggling with my HRM (Garmin chest strap) and Ergdata freezing. I even upgraded my phone to see if that was the issue. Now I am thinking of either switching to Rowpro, or getting a different HRM.
What other HRMs do people use that connect to Ergdata? I have an apple watch, but I am not interested in pairing with that... just the damn phone.
Thanks!

Re: HRM and Ergdata
I connect the Garmin chest belt to the PM5 via Ant+ first, and then connect the PM5 to ErgData via bluetooth.
I'm new to the model D but it hasn't failed to display the heart rate yet, nor has the ErgData display frozen during a session, at least not yet.

Re: HRM and Ergdata
I too have a Garmin Chest belt. (Originally purchased for cycling). I have ErgData on a Sony Xperia phone running Android 8.o.o. And I have a PM5 monitor, which I usually hardwire to the phone. It has never frozen, although ErgData does tend to run down the battery.
The reason I hardwire the PM5 is that I often row at the gym and the interference becomes a problem if I use Bluetooth. Whet I use bluetooth at home the connection occasionally craps out. So it just makes sense to do the hardwire thing. The chest belt connects to the PM5 through Ant+ and rarely causes problems.

Re: HRM and Ergdata
I use a Wahoo Tickr for HR and a Samsung Galaxy S8 and I think that has been the cause of my issues with ergdata too. It freezes mid session a d doesn't record it, and it's not been an issue for the past 4 or 5 sessions when I haven't used the Tickr.

Garmin HRM-1G ANT+ and ED on IPhone SE, IPod Touch, or IPad. Cheap and reliable chest belt but the order of pairing does matter: HR first, ED second works best.

Re: HRM and Ergdata
I tried ErgData for the first time this afternoon. The wireless connections from Polar HR strap to PM5, and PM5 to ErgData worked ok, and the workout synced ok to both the C2 online logbook and my Strava log.
Strava gives 4 graphs: speed (km/h); power (W); hr; stroke rate. The x-axis can be toggled between time and distance. It also gives summary data for the complete workout: average and max values for speed (time/500m i.e. pace); power (W); hr; and stroke rate. The Strava hr average value appears to be the average for the complete workout; whereas the C2 logbook hr average appears to be the average of the end values of each of the splits, and therefore not the true average. Thus, for my 5k this afternoon Strava gives me an avg hr of 149, versus 154 in the C2 logbook.
The only disappointing thing is that the additional data for each stroke (e.g. drive length, drive speed, avg force, peak force) do not seem to be logged. (I have downloaded and checked the csv file.)
