Why can't the PM5 connect via bluetooth and USB at the same time?
Basically I want to use RowPro for training plans but save that activity on the activity app on iOS as well (so HealthKit). I could do that by doing a rowing workout on the Apple Watch while the PM5 is connected via USB to RowPro but this way I'd lose the other metrics (distance etc.). So I want to use something like ErgData on my phone connected to the PM5 so that I can also use the same heart rate band while doing the RowPro workout.
I tried connecting both (bluetooth and USB) but it gave an error and then just didn't work.
Why can't the PM5 connect via bluetooth and USB at the same time?
Re: Why can't the PM5 connect via bluetooth and USB at the same time?
Maybe a workaround for this would be to have rowpro sync to concept2 logbook and then use manually sync with the ergdata app so that it can pull the workout from the c2 logbook.. In theory it should then add the workout to HealthKit?
Re: Why can't the PM5 connect via bluetooth and USB at the same time?
Maybe just needs more trial and error. Technically connecting to more than one thing doesn't work and is not supported, but I have a USB memory stick plugged in permanently, also Bluetooth connected to my Android phone running either ErgData or Krew, and also ANT+ to my Garmin watch running ErgIQ. Once in a while I also have the USB port plugged in to my Raspberry Pi sending power data to Zwift.
Yeah too much connectivity, but I like to have all the data.

Hrm.
I thought this was possible... but only via the USB type-B "printer" port on the back of the PM5. (far right of this photo shows the type of plug to connect to that - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Usb_connectors.JPG)
Can't speak for iOS, but with an Android phone that has USB OTG (on-the-go), you can plug an adaptor into the phone's micro-B USB port to convert to a USB "A" port, then plug a printer cable into the PM5 for a wired connection to ErgData.
You can then still use Bluetooth for something like Zwift on AppleTV via the NPE-CABLE.

I don't think the PM5 can support the comm's overhead, I have been advised to pull the USB memory stick out when using RowPro.
