Day 5 done today fella. I can feel my body responding but if I look ahead to week 6 it begins to look Scary! I guess that's why it's in week 6 and not next week!

did the 30 min SS at UT2 last night for 7100m which is day 2 of week 1. looks like the program is a 3 day a week and then repeat if you do 4,5 or 6 days in a week. also added a 1000m warm down at the end.
Ive been rowing since mid Dec and have noticed a gradual weight loss over that time. weight has dropped from 127kg to just under 120kg. which is a weight i have not seen for at least 10 and more like 15 years
aiming for under 100kg.
will get back for day 3 tonight but have to go to another branch of my gym as my one caught fire last night about an hour after i left and it wasnt me lol

Keep at it Dreadfish. I see at 120kg you're a bit heavier than me as I'm now 110kg but as you are nearly 4" taller we've probably got a similar amount to lose. I've been impressed with my short term gains and weight loss so far. I've got just under 8 weeks before I see my wife back in the UK and really want to have achieved some weight loss by then.

Hahaha, it will be tough mate, but it will be worth the sweat and pain. It doesn't get easier, you just get faster!!!

i didnt think i had lost much and that it wasnt (to me) that noticeable but my wife is commenting all the time on how much better i look with the loss. and other people are now also commenting on my losses to date. so it must be happening lol. I initially thought i would try and head for 90kg. but that is going to be a really long term goal and i havent been that light since i was 18 so probably unrealistic. i think i will be happy with getting to under 100kg. anything lower than this will be a bonus

Well I've completed 2 days in week 2 now. Today's was an hour on the erg with an 8 minute warm up, 2 x 22 minute UT1 and 8 minutes cool down.

I'm feeling fitter and the 36" jeans I packed for Saudi which would not do up are now back hanging up and available!

did 2 x 20 mins last night at 2:05.5 and 2:06.9 for a combined approx 9500 m had a 4 min rest in between. tomorrow effort will be a 40 min single session so looking for roughly 2:05.5 as an average.
LOl also noticing my pants getting looser so now have to use a belt. i do a warm up on the bike or treadmill to save the butt as i get sore from being on the erg for a period.... not only the erg as i also get a sore butt and numb legs when out kayaking. i use a soft pad for that and it seems to sort it out. may have to do the same on the erg although it will look a bit dorky walking into the gym with a seat pad lol

My third row of the week was;

10 minute warm up
5 x 5 minute @ 26 SPM
10 minute cool down.

The warm up and cool down is definitely helping. I've got negligible a he's and pains from rowing so far and that's after a six day week, one day off and now three in a row the following week.

Every time the steady state length increases or they add another set on the shorter/harder rows I dread it but it's fear of the unknown really. The Interactive Weight Loss Programme is taking me up in a gradual yet challenging manner and I can't fault it.

Keep up the good work everyone!

I'm just doing the Interactive Weight Loss Programme from the Concept 2 website. It mixes things up. Sometimes it's longer rows at a lower SPM and other times you do faster stuff for less time. You warm up longer for the faster work so not always a lot of difference between overall time on the erg.

But when all is said and done, if we're shifting up and down, sweating our arses off and getting gradually lighter then its working regardless of the method/plan!

I'm doing that as well but I suspect with different parameters hence the difference. The first 6 or so weeks are all ut2 work up to 60 mins. Most have like this week a split time. ie 2 x 20 then the 40 then another longer split like 2 x 25. Then the program repeats but at ut1.

Yes, it will be differ3nt parameters. I stated I wanted to train 6 times a week a d said I had trained within the last 12 months. I hadn't rowed but I took it as doing anything at all and I'd been doing some walking and incline treadmill stuff. Possibly I started off too hard but I'm settling into it.

Keep it up Eric!

Well that's now six rows completed for 2 weeks running. The weight is falling nicely.

My Friday treat after the 6th row is to book out the sauna and cool plunge pool directly after.

I'm down to 108.8kg. My aim is to be 100kg or under by the time I fly home on 19th March.
