Greetings and Thanks in advance

Post by HeavyDluxe » August 19th, 2020, 6:30 pm

Hi, everyone.

I'm a 45 year-old dude who just got my first rowing machine/erg... I'd been poking around on reddit's rowing forum while I was waiting for my unit to arrive, but didn't realize there was a set of forums here. Looking forward to being around and learning.

A few years ago, I hit my max weight at >360lbs and needed to get a grip on things. At that time, I started intermittent fasting and hitting the gym. When I was there, I hated every cardio machine except the rower. I'm sure my form was horrendous, etc, but at least I was moving. Having been a tennis player when I was younger, I got started playing squash and fell in love... Over 18 months, I dropped (at least) 80lbs, was playing squash for at least an hour 5 days a week, and feeling great (rhr was in the low 40s).

Then, I wrecked my shoulder.

The recovery stretched on and on... While I maintained for a while, I eventually got lazy and weight started back on. I got back north of 330 before I pulled my sh... er, stuff together and started watching my intake. I'm back down 15lbs and, with the shoulder never again for squash and gyms closed, I started trying to score a rower. It arrived this week, and I'm preparing to begin approaching the unit in preparation for a workout. :)

Looking forward to interacting... Good luck to you all and thanks for the motivation!
