Post by Joek510 » November 29th, 2008, 8:40 am

I have been an occasional rower for some time now,an I am looking to kick it up a notch and try the Pete's Plan routine to better improve my performance and endurance. The question I have is , is this the corect way to go about the plan ?

WEEK -1

MONDAY: 5000m
TUSDAY: 6 x 500m / 2min rest
WEDNESDAY:OFF
THURSDAY:5000m
FRIDAY:[20min]
SATURDAY:OFF
SUNDAY :[2 x 10min / 2min rest]
Then Start week 2

Thanks
JOE

Does not seem to be going to bad, definetley breaks up the routine a bit.
Its nice to have something to work for rather then just rowing 10,000 meter stretches every time i get on the machine
I am just getting thru the second week so like the say news at 11 on how the benifit of the program is working
I am also trying to maintain some weight loss and rowing seems to be by far working the best, but only if i do 40min to 1 hour stretches

I was just asking the question to see how the break up of rest days to work days should be. But i assume that with no answers it is either right or nobody really knows
Any way i will keep you posted

I haven't looked at the Pete's plan in years, and haven't really followed the threads about it on the UK forum, but it seems to me that you are not rowing that much. Rowing 5 days a week with 2 rest days seems like a good plan, but 20 min or a 5k for a day seems really light, particularly if the intent is to "kick it up a bit".

What are your current times and goals and how hard are you doing these rows? Do you warm up and warm down on top of the listed sessions?

Well actually I Start with about 40 min on the eliptical prior to doing the rowing splits and i try to get in a least 10000meters in 40- 45 min for the long rowing portion of the routine
Even thought i have been only rowing for about a year now i am always trying to find a better way to get a good work out sesion in and always improving my times
