Creaking from footplate area

Post by PaulG » December 7th, 2008, 10:10 pm

I bought a used Model D and recently noticed "creaking from the footplate area". I went to the C2 website under troubleshooting and quickly diagnosed the problem. The website suggested the application of vaseline or chapstick to the mating surfaces of the front end and rail. Not having either handy, I used another great product from Vermont: Bag Balm! It worked fine and is another use for a versatile product.

I had that problem with my "C". I broke it down and put Vaseline on all connecting surfaces and checked tightness of all bolts. Problem went away and has never come back in the 2 years or since then
