Can't read the forum

Since the upgrade I have been unable to read the topics or posts in the forum. Topics all appear to be compressed into a small space and I can't see the titles. However on my work computer I can see and read all. Is it due to the ancient browser on my home computer?

What browser are you using?

If IE < v7 then upgrade to IE V8
If FF < V3.5.7 then upgrade to V3.5
Or try Opera, Chrome or anything made in the 21st century.

This forum works perfectly for me with FF 3.6 with Javascript activated. It's even just about usable if I disable the cascading style sheet (CSS). There's not much different between this forum and a brand new phpBB3 forum as it comes from the basic installation materials. It's definitely more elegant than the old phpBB2 version that was running until last week.

Interestingly strange suggestion and so unlikely to be the real cause. We have assume that Paul has no problem with other websites and that his computer display is working for those.

It probably is my IE5 on my home computer. I don't want to sound like a Luddite, but I believe most updgrades are the work of the devil.

It happens to me at work all the time. There I was minding my own business happily able to do all my work and then someone comes along and "upgrades" things for me. I can't read my old files, but oh boy, now I can print in the Cyrillic alphabet.

Yes, IE 5 is in general not really a supported browser for nowadays. I'd definitely upgrade if it's all possible, not just for the sake of this site, but as there's a fair few security issues associated with older browsers. If you upgrade to one of the modern browsers (either IE8, or one of the alternatives suggested by Citroen) you should be fine.

One hour and three restarts later and IE8 is installed. Now I can do everything I did with IE5. Wait a minute, wasn't this supposed to be an upgrade?

What you have upgraded is your Internet safety and your compliance with well documented Internet standards. MS IE5 was full of security holes that could have delivered all sorts of viruses, trojans and keyloggers. MS IE8 while in no way 100% perfect has had ten years of Microsoft plugging holes and making things better.

You could have rowed a HM (with three pauses for the reboots) while you were waiting for that install to complete.
