hmmm i seem to have forgotten where i found your name, i think it was on one of the ranking pages, yes thats it. i figured you were the best LWT, you have some really good erg scores. I was going to go to the burn but something else came up that i had to attend to.

So I got a PB today but was a little dissapointed. My Previous 2K was 7:31.1 done 1/16/2006. Today I managed a 7:27.0. Four lousy seconds? I realize that at some point you plateau and improvements are measured in tenths of a second but I can't be close to peaking yet.

I just started rowing end of December so my first 2K test was after only two weeks of rowing. So two months of rowing and only 4 seconds improvement?

RTR - a PB is a PB grab it while you can.

What sort of training have you been doing in the last 3 months and were you up for the 2K test or did you just decide to pull a 2K - subtle difference, in my book at least.

see above for last 5 2k erg tests (not counting today)

so today's erg test i went into it thinking that i would do worse than the last one (6:51.6) instead i did better.... a whole lot better. In fact I did better than I thought I could do a month from now. without further distraction

Congratulations to everyone else for the recent PBs, reading about them here does add motivation. I had trained pretty hard leading up the crash-bs, but then got sick 2 weeks before, and ended up cancelling. I was bummed about that, and it was hard to get back into rowing. But I decided I better start pushing myself again, so I scheduled a handicap race on rowpro. If you have a computer you could use for rowing, running XP, I highly recommend you try RP. Although not quite like being there, I had a hard time sleeping last night. 6 of us raced together in the end.

My goal this season had been to get to be a lightweight and then crack the top 10% in the rankings. I made lwt in Dec after 3 months of strict dieting to lose the last 15lbs (down from 189 or so). My previous PB was 18:38, todays race: 18:25.7. The difference between being a 40 year old hwt and lwt is pretty stark: top 20 (or so, 20 or 21) vs. top 200. I can probably go sub 18:20, but I am going to save that sand for the next online racing series.

That was actually fun. Looking forward to the next race.

Congratulations Michael for your new 10K PB and for making the LW category!
I am thinking about getting a PC laptop (currently using a Mac) so that I could join you for all those races! :D

Cheers!

Michael, congrats on the new PB, especially as a skinny! I know that 5k we did last weekend made it all possible

40' PB while my teammates were running (I erg instead of running)
I put it as a 10k (since it was 100027m) in my log book to get the ranking and I just used the same splits. Here it is (in true negative split fashion)

40:00 2:04.3
32:00 2:03.2
24:00 2:00.3
16:00 1:57.7
8:00 1:53.5

Overall : 40' 10027m 1:59.6 @ 24
