Congratulations! Thassalottameters! (Hey wait a minute. is that 50 million million meters?)

I've got my sights on 5 million in the next few months. I just sent in for my free 1 million t-shirt. I understand you get one at 5 million too. Any others?

Diane's 3 Million Meters

Post by mathineer » October 22nd, 2014, 6:51 pm

Diane,

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering:
How did you do those row? Was it in several shorter pieces throughout the day, or did you just sit down and do a long one each day? Anything you'd be willing to share would be very interesting to me (and probably to a lot of others as well). I'm having a little trouble wrapping my head around that much rowing. It's approaching the level of effort of an ocean crossing (without the storms and danger etc).

Congrats Jim, 50 million meters in 10 years, averaging 5 million a year is very impressive. I would be curious as to your routine as well. I have a hard enough time obtaining my 1.4 million or so every year. What with work, family and life matters. I don't know how your body handles that so any info on your accomplishment would be greatly appreciated.

Been away for a few days as I took a hard spill at home resulting in a laceration and shiner to my left eye, bruised ribs and a banged up elbow. Finally rowed today and other than the bar going into the rib area 25-26 times every minute all was good, lol

Thanks, helps to have my own machine plus a used one that grandkids sometimes use. Had some years that I rowed 2 or 3 times a day. I have never been a fast rower, but 45 - 50 minutes can get 11000 in. Due to a long long rehab, I had and still have lots of time to row but I dont do as much now. I used to be too compulsive/competitive.

Jim,
50 million meters seems to me to be a lifetime's worth of meters. Congratulations on that and also on finding a way to balance competing priorities.
