Carpal tunnel

Post by frankieboy » August 14th, 2015, 1:59 pm

When rowing on the erg I'm occasionally getting some jolts of pain running down the outside of my wrist, wrist adjustment helps and it doesn't always happen.

Can anyone suggest how to prevent this when using an erg or rowing a shell

A pinched nerve sheath is not fun. Neural spikes and white hand are not fun. If you place your thumb on the end of the grip OTW do the same on the erg handle by extending the thumb along the handle toward the center. I have the problem in my left hand. OTW, I feel a twinge occasionally at the catch but oddly not at the rollout onto the feather. Much worse on the erg possibly due to a greater average handle force than OTW. I have no sweep experience and no idea how bad that can be.
