Heart rate stats

Post by Aks » July 17th, 2016, 5:51 pm

Hi there,

I recently started rowing again after a ---probably 5 year hiatus? Anyway, sold my model C - regretted it for a few years, and then last month bought a model D. Previously I was a pretty much 'Just Row' sort of person. Now I am starting to get into the other forms of workouts. One thing I am wondering is if there is a way to save the HR monitor stats? I would like to see how long I stay in certain zones and maybe use that for some more intelligent training. I do know that I often peak out at the top range of my HR and then want to stop all together. I'd like to at least see my average for a session. I would also like to see if I get more efficient over time.

I am using RowPro and the PM5 with a Garmin strap. Is there a setting in RowPro that saves the data? Is there another program that is better?

It's not the end of the world if this doesn't exist.

Thanks

Personally I only look at the average HR for the row. This can be found in the top line of the PM5 memory and then I take that and add it to the notes in the RowPro Logbook. You then right click the row and export it to the Concept 2 website for a permanent record.

Sounds a bit long winded and the process is being made more seamless soon with automatic uploads and more information thats contained in the row files will be displayed on the concept 2 website the same as the ErgData is showing right now. This will include the likes of your average HR and rating and hopefully finally a stroke counter.

You can use the analysis within Rowpro to compare a current row to an earlier row to look at your improvements. This is great for when you first start out but eventually you plateau to the point that I can predict my average HR for the row before doing it.

Just click on the link below to see what it looks like.

you could use rowpro and have shorter splits. it only saves the last recored HR for that split, but you would have a record (pdf)

Hi,

There are a bunch of folks that use a excel spreadsheet developed by a ISS forum user (danburpee). You can choose the option to "save stroke data" in rowpro and the spreadsheet will calculate stuff like time in HR zone and allow you to do arbitrary split calculations and stuff.

PM me if you want a copy.

If you have a PC, RowPro and Xcel, don't fail to take Greg up on his offer. Spreadsheet analysis in graphic representation a useful complement with RP. Worth the small effort involved.

Yes and just to note you can change the splits in RowPro. The default for example in the 30 minute is 1:30 but you can make it every 1:00 so this would improve the accuracy of the average HR. Not sure if it remembers the change or you have to change it every time you login, will find that out tonight.

Shameless plug for my website http://rowsandall.com/

You can upload RowPro CSV exports (as well as ErgData, Painsled, SpeedCoach, CrewNerd and RiM, or import from the Concept2 logbook) and do many kinds of graphs.
