Re: concept2 utility 7 windows XP issue.
You're going to need a copy of V6 of the utility or you're going to need to upgrade from Win7 to Win10.

I'm using Ver 6.5 , not have any issue but want to try recording interval data and stroke rate on the online logbook.
Maybe it's time to say goodbye to my old notebook.

Re: concept2 utility 7 windows XP issue.
@Citroen,
This is incorrect. The new Version 7 Utility works absolutely fine on Windows 7, which I run on all my PCs and laptops. The OP is running XP, which is now a very old (and unsupported o/s) which seemingly doesn't work. But W7 has no issues.
Windows 7, despite Microsoft's attempts to kill it, is incredibly stable and supported into 2020 (by which time Microsoft will have killed Windows dead and we'll all be using Macs anyway).
I would implore anyone still running Windows 7 to stick with it. Aside from the stability and usability issues with Windows 10, the biggest argument against "upgrading" to Windows 10 is the aggressive way in which Microsoft now steals your personal data. Although Windows 7 upgrades now also introduce Microsoft code to steal data your also, so even Windows 7 users are under attack.
Why you shouldn't upgrade to W10:

How Microsoft, using W10, steals all your personal data and the limited steps to protect yourself:

How Microsoft is screwing W7 users also, and what you can do to protect yourself:

Re: concept2 utility 7 windows XP issue.
You're still wrong and stop spreading FUD. Windows 10 is exceedingly stable and a much better experience than Win7 or that complete mess called Win 8.1. Microsoft is no more or less evil than Google or Faceborg (which is leading the evil empire table after their current WhatsApp data stealing).
I may be biased because I'm running the developer "home insider preview" edition as I've been using it to develop stuff for Win10IoT running on Raspberry Pis. Most of the stuff I do is on Linux and there's still no native way to run the C2 util on there.

Re: concept2 utility 7 windows XP issue.
for those who wondered like me!
Fear, uncertainty and doubt (often shortened to FUD) is a disinformation strategy used in sales, marketing, public relations, talk radio, politics, religion, and propaganda. FUD is generally a strategy to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information and a manifestation of the appeal to fear.
While the phrase dates to at least the early 20th century, the present common usage of disinformation related to software, hardware and technology industries generally appeared in the 1970s to describe disinformation in the computer hardware industry, and has since been used more broadly.

Sorry FUD is a normal everyday phrase for a Database Consultant with grey in his beard who's worked in IT since the early 1980's.

Well, you didn't address the original statement that this user made, which is that the new app works FINE on Win7. I haven't tried it, but have to believe this is true unless you have proven otherwise.Citroen wrote:You're still wrong and stop spreading FUD. I also don't understand why you are defending a company that is using its power in the marketplace to surreptitiously collect data on all of its users. So what if Google and Facebook also do it - haven't you heard of duckduckgo or unplugging from Facebook? It is much harder to exercise choice when your underlying operating system is spying on you. And by all means, yes, given the alternatives out there, going to Linux is a great solution. But then, so is staying with Win7 if you are used to it and happy with it.
What bothers me the most, I have to say, is that the NSA is spying on all of us no matter what OS or apps we choose to use. And based on the two candidates who have a chance of winning in the upcoming election, that is certain to get worse and not better.
