Not fast, but happy, improved my 30 minute row by 138 meters to get 7,455.
Didn't start out to PB but felt pretty good so decided to have a crack.
Knocked 15 seconds off of 2,000 meters to 7:49 on Monday evening.

Might be attending the Norwegian indoor rowing championship early 2018, unfortunately it seems like they are running 1000m in the masters classhjs wrote: Start looking around for some racing, you certainly could do well. Around 6.10 not that many 40 years are to be found.

I will do a test run soon with a pace around 1:34.5/500m for the first 1500m then all in on the last 500m. If I can do the last 500m faster than 1:34.5 pace then my time will be sub 6:18.0, will be very happy if I can manage that.

Work on the mindset, 6.10 is certainly not there yet, but you still improve rapidly, and more important, you still train like a relative Newby. You still can build a big aerobic base. This goes relative slow though, lots of good solid meters at relative easy pace do this.-marius- wrote:Might be attending the Norwegian indoor rowing championship early 2018, unfortunately it seems like they are running 1000m in the masters classhjs wrote: Start looking around for some racing, you certainly could do well. Try to build your longer sessions. But do not race them.
Expect that sub 6.18 soon.

It would be very cool, but I know that's not going to happen when you start rowing at 40yoGammmmo wrote:@marius - imagine if you could (eventually) go sub6...how cool would that be?

@JerekKruger - It's a program from the SUB7 IRC team

Not likely. Only a handfull 40 plus guys got there, and only one pure erger. But atm there is no need to limit a goal, lots to gain. Both pure aerobic base as power per stroke are still very trainable.Gammmmo wrote:@marius - imagine if you could (eventually) go sub6...how cool would that be?

Hjs there are plenty of rowers and ergers who are sub 6 nowadays, I think with a serious plan he can get there.
