Not the cantine but can't deny that I lost speed on the erg after I started rowing otw.

Maybe I m wrong but I assume you think I did the ctc. Did not do the ctc but the challenge series from the Indoor rowers league. This month's distance is 1609 mtrs. If I would do the ctc with the same pace I would just below 7:18. Hope to do better than that. B)

Oh, ok then. What an odd distance, matches the Goudse Mijl race (OTW) exactly..
I did a lowly 6:50 in that event in the mixed double, but speed on erg does not translate
so directly to speed on water.

for those who missed it...........
Steve Berridge of Red Line Rowers has posted the November CTC: "Apologies if the November selection by Red Line Rowers is less adventurous than some but after recent controversies we thought we would avoid a ranking piece or something too “niche” and so have selected a popular 2k training piece, AKA the Red Line Rev Up. For the forthcoming 2k race season, 4 x 750 (3r). First rep static start, subsequent ones from a rolling start and no rate restrictions, enjoy !!"

Thanks Henry and Lindsay for your pacing advice, just finished a 2k in a new PB by 0.6s in 7:09.5. Happy with that especially as my training has consisted mainly of 10k+ SS rows. Hopefully I can pull around that at the BRIC in December

Nice PR, Piers!

11th hour CTC:
Haven't rowed a 100 meters at better than 2:12 since 9 July so happy with how I paced these and surprised how good I felt during and after.

Congrats, well done. Would expect a better time at Birc, certainly if you sharpen up more.

Thanks Jack and Henry, it would be nice to improve at BIRC as there are 5 weeks to go and my first 1k on this was 3:37.3 so I could pace it flatter however my first BIRC last year ended with me blowing up in the last 500m with a 1:52 so I will have to be careful to make sure I don't reach too far.

Nice 11th hour CTC Jack it's amazing how SS work pays off for the faster stuff.

BTW what relation does 4 x 750m 3R have to 2k pace? Is it around 2k pace?

thanks

Think a bit faster, 1 2 seconds below 2k

Thanks Henry,

Just attempted it and managed 1s under 2k pace, for a 10:38.7. Happy with that, but could probably shave another few seconds off with a better start to the first couple of 750's as they were 1:47.8 and 1:47.0 with the last two at 1:46.4 and 1:44.6.

I have also completed a 6344m row for the IRL, at around 24:58, which is 35s slower than last year. It was supposed to be a 30 min row for a facebook group I am part of but I handled down soon after for no real reason. Which was annoying as when I finally completed it a couple of days later I was slower and it felt harder and at 7607m I was 10m short of my pb.

I sprained my ankle running 3 weeks ago and it's taking its time to get better. Rowing is certainly difficult now - initially at half slide only without lifting the heels, then at full slide but without being able to put full pressure through the ankle. Cardio fitness has taken a bit of a nose dive I fear. Have had to resort to Skierg and have just ranked a 1000m piece at about double Henry's pace  Henry - does Skierg work the core as well as triceps or was that just my imagination?

Anyway, doubtful whether I'll be able to complete this month's CTC and IRL challenges so I hope for the latter especially that there will be sufficient times from other members.

Hi Paul, depending a bit on technique, but it certainly works the core, midback also works hard, and even the chest adds energy. Would not use a to high a drag, but try to keep a fluend movement.

Chris, nice work !

From a numbers geek, thanks for keeping those stats updated. Just wish I'd found the Flyers sooner, instead of squandering 36 entries on other teams. Would have been in 7th!

Cheers
Dave
