@ Armando - no wonder you haven't been around as much. Spending time in the pain cave! Nice work, huge improvement! That's some beastie stuff there!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Thank you all for the encouragement and kind words.
Really great improvement from my previous best of 1:45.7, though it's been about a year and a half so I definitely expected a significant improvement. I've been doing purely SS training (60+ minutes) since I finished the head racing season and it's actually yielded pretty good results for my SS pace improvements and my long distance testing.

Wow Armando, your previous PB of 1:45.7 is enviable enough. That's a massive step up to 1:44.0
I'd love to see how fast you could do an FM. Do you think you could do a sub 75min HM?

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I did a half marathon in June of last year, went 1:46.5 (1:14:52.2), so just south of 75 minutes. I have very little to no motivation to do an entire marathon anytime soon - the thought of sitting on the erg for that long does not appeal to me. I do think based on how I felt yesterday that I could go sub 1:46 for the half marathon if I did it again.Dangerscouse wrote:Wow Armando, your previous PB of 1:45.7 is enviable enough. How fast?!?!? That's seriously impressive. Do you have an athletic background? Do you know your vo2 max?

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I've always been athletic and have been rowing on and off since 2008. Rowed for 3 years in college, then stopped for a while, returned to serious training in 2015. No clue what my VO2max is.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I had the good fortune to watch Armando at CB's a couple of years ago. Total beast. Not real big, my best guess is about 6' 185-190. Totally shredded, not an ounce of fat.
Turned himself inside out for a 2k PB in the 6:15 range as I re-call. He had no idea who this crazy guy was cheering him on from the stands. Talked for a minute or two afterwards, total class act.

Whats you volume and trainingpace?
Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
That's significant. OK, Armando's marks would still be good for the classic 6'6" rower giant, but sounds like he's got great genetics AND the ability to go deep on the erg. Inspiring stuff...Edward4492 wrote:I had the good fortune to watch Armando at CB's a couple of years ago. Total beast. Not real big, my best guess is about 6' 185-190.
