This was my first interval session longer than 500m... I've only ever rowed sprint intervals. Target was 5k pace... 2:08.3

I seriously wanted to quit after 2... lol... but stuck with it. Seems that might be a mental issue... I don't think it was the pace as much as the fact that I would still have 3 more! I may have to prepare myself mentally for these longer interval sessions. Anyway, I felt pretty good going into the last one, and am pleased with my overall effort. The new target will be 2:07, so I hope I'm ready in 3 weeks.
mitchel674 wrote: Michael, I actually found the 8x500m a bit tougher than the pyramid. This is my first time through the Pete plan so I am a bit fuzzy on the pacing of each piece. The start of the pyramid seemed a bit slow at my 2k PB (2:04). Once I completed the 1000m it was nice to know the distances were decreasing even though I had to ramp up my efforts.

Yes... decreasing distances might be a plus for me mentally... if I can get thru the 1000m... lol
Way to hang in there! I've got 4x2000m at 2:08 tomorrow and I'm already dreading it. I find these long intervals to be the worst. My brain wants to quit after each one

4 x 2000m r5 tonight. My target was 2:08. Funny how 5 minutes rest seems to fly by.

What was your previous avg HR? Looks like yours are finally looking normal :D

Oh, I had a cortisone shot in my elbow yesterday. So, I'm hoping to get back on the erg tomorrow.

Lol it was 142 on the previous effort, back on March 4. I did that row at 7pm and today’s row at 7 am. I wonder if that made a difference?

Or maybe it’s kust that small increase in pace

Good luck with the elbow Ray

@Bob - the 10K I did this week that I found hard? Not sure - I left the PM5 on the default 20% split settings so I've only got data in 2K chunks

Impressive consistency!! Were you aiming to go faster on the last interval or just going for symmetry?

No I’m pedantic on this stuff and Pete didn’t say anything about flooring it on the last rep so I went for consistency. Shame I let the rate creep up!

BPP 15.1 10k

Goal was to beat 42:21.5 (prior best), but I had a sub 42' (2:06) in mind. I covered the PM5 so I couldn't see the average. However, I kept doing the math in my head when passing splits (since I have the RowPro). I was probably at 95% near the end. I knew I had my goal, so I just held on.

Image

Goal for 2018 is sub 40'. I know I'm way away, but I was at 44:49 on 2/21/18.

Great progress Ray! 3 minutes improvement in less than 2 months. I'm hoping that I can do as well.

PP week 3. This was 4 x 1000m, r5. My target pace was to try and get under 2:00.

These 4k interval sessions are interesting. Sandwiched between a 2k warm up and a 2k cool down, they make for a nice workout.
