BPP 19.2 5x800 2r
Target 1:56.3 1st 4, then all out on 5th
I was able to do the 1st interval, then it went to crap. I went from feeling great after the 10k TT on Wednesday to complete sh!t in 4 days. Oh well, I need to refocus.

We all have those kinda days, just don't let it bother you and you'll be flying again next time round. I remember I started to feel it and have off days around the same point in the BPP, it's a long old grind!RayOfSunshine wrote: I was able to do the 1st interval, then it went to crap. PP 1.1 8x500m. Target 1:47.2
14:14.6 - 4,000m - 29
1:47.0 - 500m - 27

1:47.1 - 500m - 29
1:47.0 - 500m - 29
1:45.6 - 500m - 29
Ave 1:46.8
I think that's a new PB for me for the 500m intervals, and definitely more consistent pace wise than I was doing this time last year. That 6th interval grates on me though!

I used to laugh about how some people can get OCD on their splits or intervals. Now that I've tried it, it's a great mental game. You give me hope that I'll do better one day.

BPP 19.3
3x10' 2'r
Target 2:04.7 on 1st 2, faster on 3rd

Struggled a bit today, but I'm happy with the results.

PP 1.3.5 - 6K hard distance
After 10 mins warmup I managed a new PB - I based the target on my recent 5K pace (2:02.5)
Beat the old PB by 2min....admittedly the previous 6K was pretty soft and was done near the start of the BPP.

Happy rowing all!

A new PB is always something to be happy about no matter how soft. Well donerascott wrote:PP 1.3.5 - 6K hard distance

Good Day,
@rascot - That is awesome!! Well done.
Cycle 2/ Week 1/ Day 1
4x2000 with 5R and SPM >30
05/16/18 06/05/18
2000 156 155
2000 156 155
2000 156 155
2000 153.2 151.8
Avg 155.3 154.2
Some progress. Started Jui Jitsu last night and that took much more out of me than I expected, but still was able to perform this morning. This round the longer sprint felt better mentally, especially the last one, just really focused on the breathing and it was over. Will be interesting to see how a 1:54 goes next time.
Thanks for all the info everyone,
Have a great day,
David

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Lots of nice work going on here. Good job on the PB Robert (and Andy/Street)!
BJJ also David, that's not easy at all! My son is really, really into that. He moved to Austin this year and joined a new Jui Jitsu gym there. He was getting destroyed by these two brothers (that were a lot younger than him). He said it was pretty discouraging until he learned the two were World Junior champs. Those are now two of his training partners and he's progressing really fast. He loves it. Those two (the really good Jui Jitsu partners) also row for cardio. Though my son is smaller (5' 7" and only 140/150 lbs) he's back doing rowing now. Great compliment to that type of MMA.
I had planned on getting back to the PP this last Sunday. My wife didn't get the memo. She sold this portable hot tub my kids got us a while back (we're moving this year and getting rid of larger items, she gave the money back to our kids). Draining the last 50/75 gallons by hand with a bucket wore me out (along with 2 hours in the sun breaking it down). Back was killing me afterward and I didn't get to start the PP on Sunday. I'll start it this Sunday. My schedule works much better with starting on Sundays and taking Saturday off.
I'm not looking forward to the 8 X 500 at all. I did 3 X 500m today (with KB swings, pushups and military presses between). Hard to compare with lifting during your off times but I struggled to beat 1:50 pace (1:47 was the best one I could manage). Looking forward to rowing intervals without lifting during the rest periods and seeing what I can do. I'm still not 100% back from being sick/vacation but I'm feeling OK, just slower.

BPP 19.5 4x2000 4r
Target 1:59.7 (same as 2 weeks ago)
I did 1:59.6 for 1st interval and knew I was in trouble. For intervals 2-4, I took off the straps, slowed down, and concentrated on form.
For the summer, I moved to the mountains (3800 ft) from the beach (0 ft) and have been doing some light hikes. Hard to believe that altitude/light hiking could impact my aerobic capacity as much as it has. My legs are a bit heavy from the hikes, but I can typically power through if doing other exercise back home. I almost decided to take a couple weeks off of the BPP, but that would be silly. This is just making me stronger. My ego took a hit, but it probably needed it.

Those early gains are great, I miss not being able to knock seconds off my times anymore. I'm going to be reaping the benefits off acclimatisation in a few weeks too as I'm off to the alps climbing. I'll be going up to about 4000m.. I was wondering if doing a 2km test when I got back would be cheating?RayOfSunshine wrote: For the summer, I moved to the mountains (3800 ft) from the beach (0 ft) and have been doing some light hikes. Re: Pete Plan Thread
You be careful on them thar hills, Street. As I'm sure you know, a shedload of snow fell late this winter and it's taking a long time to melt. Even my regular powerhike up to 1800m was still pretty snowed in 2 weeks ago. There's lots of nasty wet snow ready to avalanche...Street wrote:I'm going to be reaping the benefits off acclimatisation in a few weeks too as I'm off to the alps climbing. It'll be just my luck the conditions are rubbish when I get out there, luckily it's not till the end of July though. I'm over for a couple weeks though and I'll have my car to move around areas so hopefully there will be something to go at somewhere!hobbit wrote:You be careful on them thar hills, Street. @Bob
It'll be good to have you on this thread! I look forward to watching your progress
@David
I just noticed all your times are my long-term stretch goals. Well, except I'd throw in 8k for 30'. I'm thinking you should get that soon! Any plans on going for it?
