We have the CTC choice for November, suggestions please.
1) Eleventh hour. 111m x 11, 30 sec rest. Total metres. 1st standing start rest rolling
2) 11 x 1 min, 1 min rest (from Shirley on Facebook group)
3) 1111m
4) 11 min
5) Something to tie into 100 years since end of WW1? e.g. 1914m / 1918m with x min rest
Dave you are on fire. Quite like the 11 theme so would go for the 111m x 11 of those ones. Back in the day the FFs killed the sprinty ones.
Alternatively would be a simple ranking piece like 6k which we don't do often and would fit with the IRL piece say.
We have a couple of weeks I guess.

As the CTC seems to be about commemoration something these days, I like the 1914 - 1918 one.
Otherwise yeah, something straightforward and ranking like 6k.
I don't really want to be programming 11 intervals into my PM! No way I'd get it right in one go and by the time I got it in I would've lost interest

Good morning,
one possible extrapolation from the suggestions as the 11th Nov commemorates the fallen at all conflicts
1,918m for end of WW1
+
1,945m for end of WW2
+
2,011m for end of Iraq war
with 2 min rests (to reflect the 2min silence done on the 11th hour)
total time for 5,874m (to be near the 6k mentioned)

War and Peace 11/11/18
~~centenary commemoration of suspension of WWI hostilities at 11AM on 11 November 1918~~
11x1’ Bombardment on 1’ truce (first advance from trench, subsequent[?] from shell craters).
+
2’ Silence (inactive rest).
+
1918m Armistice (continuous free rate).
+
Demob and record total meters excluding truce meters in 11/18 CTC.
(A programming nitemare very probably but war is hell after all.)

Went through the 10 million metre mark last night - 782+ hours of rowing to get there over 15+ years (with a couple of lengthy breaks in between). I think that Model D purchase back in October 2004 was a good decision.

I'm assuming I'll look back on last month's BikeErg purchase with a similar feeling in the end.
Have already put in my entry for BRIC18 - my gamble on venue and date back in March paid off when we booked plane tickets and accommodation! We were going over for a Christmas holiday anyway, so it wouldn't have been the end of the world if they'd changed either, but it's nice when things work out. Now back to the training, so that I get the time down enough not to finish last in the 40-49 heavies.
I saw Lindsay has mentioned going through as well. Anyone else from the team thinking about it?
Dave
Woo hoo!!

Silly me to suggest 1918m!

Athough one could I suppose add time to complete 1918m to meters completed in 11 by 1’ and obtain a hybrid result, say timeters, metimes or perhaps chronometers. Still and all the invariable number of meters in 1918m doesn’t really favor Elena and Pavel over Tom, Dick and Harry. Can’t have that can we so make that 11’ continuous free rate.

Lot of war talk going on... Shows our age I guess.
Won,t do suggestions or vote this time. Training is to interrupted atm, so for me it does not matter much.

Graham, 111m by 11 on 30” or 11 by 1 on 1 are either one relatively simple to punch in. Both fixed (repeatable) intervals rather than variable which means only one time thru the blinking blanks and watch the rep counter during execution. Hardly the Somme or Gallipoli.

Nice one Jack !
Must remember to have one go on the CTC before the end of month once I have a bit more mileage under my belt.

Thanks Olivier. Certainly hurt bad enuf to warrant a higher average pace than high AT zone so I’ll take props for struggle rather than accomplishment. 77.5% of my 2k power from 2016, a testament to persistent mediocrity.

Hello all.
it's all good Jack, very pleased to see you are are still clocking a large number of meters year on year

... nice incentive to see all the meters made in the affiliation and no excuse left for me now not to put my bum on the seat.
Having a good feeling again so far rebuilding with all the UT2 sessions (10k+ per sessions, either in one shot or 2x30min). Did put down a marker (for reference only really) with a 30 min/6,737m yesterday, was constantly in UT1. Painful but happy that it was only 600m away from my PB that early on (maybe the latter was not hard enough in the first place really !!

)
Talking of the affiliation earlier, nice meters from everyone in the FTC...but it seems that some members who took part to the FTC are missing in the FF affiliation itself ?...missing some substantial total meters by the looks of it ?

Hi Papy
I'm new to the Forum Flyers team, what's this about FF affiliation?
Thanks. jp

If you have a C2 logbook, go to the “Teams” page and self-register for the Fall Challenge. Go to your profile page and choose “edit profile” to add yourself to the FF affiliation.
We are never going to get these FAQs into a sticky apparently. Here is Dave’s answer to “jp” in early September—the best to date imo:
Welcome jp!
There are 4 events that are running simultaneously, and they all need some form of separate sign-up:
Firstly, the general team affiliation runs throughout the season - you'll need to choose "Forum Flyers" as your Affiliation under your log book profile (this is different to "Team" which is needed for the 2nd event), and then all your metres will accrue to the Forum Flyer total.
Secondly, the Fall Team Challenge needs you to join the "Forum flyers 2018" team, which is under the Teams heading on the log book. And then you need to join Fall Team Challenge so that your metres contribute to the challenge. It sounds like you've already done this.
Thirdly the Cross Team Challenge will need another login to be set up. The sign up process is apparently a little fiddly with the occasional odd error message, but it sounds like if you keep trying it will eventually let you join, and then it's seamless from then on. Others who've signed up more recently might be able to add more to this. Once you've done that month's challenge, and entered it onto the site, the allocation to specific Forum Flyers boats will be done automatically (each boat needs at least 1 female, 1 lightweight, and the rest can be filled with anyone, including the fat boys like me).
Finally, if you're still reading, there is the Indoor Rowers League where the best 8 age-adjusted times from a team of 10 will be used for that month's leaderboard. Look for "High Flyers 18" as the 8on8 team name when registering - we haven't filled the first 10 yet, so I'm sure you can grab a spot.
Feel free to ask more questions if my list has caused more confusion!
Cheers
Dave

CTC tonite
4740m = 17.7.3 @1:49.4
@1:49.6
@1:52.0 - couldn't quite hold the sub 1:50
@1:42.1
@1:33.2
Terry was @1:56.7
For the November challenge - I like the idea of the 11s I guess or the end of WW1 1918 but that is a little like October
(or maybe just a good solid 6k?)
