I feel like i am finally catching this cold that has been threatening for ages so I needed to get a score on the board for the CTC.

I think I'm still feeling the after effects of Just Row on Sunday and I bottled it with 500m to go and managed to muster up some pride with 150m to go
Very nice score, especially with a coming cold (but maybe not the best idea to do a TT when getting ill  )
These last 500m look VERY hard!

I've done 140kg (still pretty mediocre really) for 1RM but still think there's some gas left in the tank but I'm tentative with deads. Slow and steady seems to be working well, I find sometimes 1 session a week is enough for that but sometimes OK with 2. Trying to lots of sets of 6 at around 110-115kg just to get habituated. I have this figure of 400lbs (~180kg) in my head as something reasonable to aspire to. I've used the hex bar a bit but find it no easier, just different. Still at least the deads are alot better than my squat.
140kg is almost 2x your bodyweight, so pretty good I think. To be tentative with deadlifts is wise, an injured back is no fun at all, I know what I'm talking about :-)

still aiming for the 16k 1hr, 230m improvement on last time but not quite there, seems red wine and hot cross buns are not your best training partner

I sure hope you don't get it - has messed me up for months. I have come to the conclusion that actually got it twice - had it bad and it lasted longer that you would think, started to get a little better then got worse again. I still don't think I am 100% but definitely better than I was, it didn't stop me from training but it impacted by performance big time.

Do you not log reps x weight for all your sets? Just trying to compare really as not too dissimilar bodyweight to you, Anth. Yes i do...i simply know what plates i need on the bar at a time to do what i need to. I've not attempted a 1RM... i don't have enough weights to even try  Well, i probably do, but don't have enough heavy plates to get the weight needed on the bar for 1RM. At the moment the bar ends up almost full and out of space to add more, on my deads! Looking to invest in some heavier plates soon. EXPENSIVE

Deads, like you maybe 1-2 times a week, but 100's of squats stuff several times through a week.

Thanks Martin. I struggle with sensible decisions! The last 500m wasn't that hard, it was far from pleasant but if I had been better prepared I probably could have dug in better. I under estimated the tipping point.

Yeah, I have had that before when I have trained regardless and had a double bout of illness and then had it had lingering for ages. I'm wondering if I'm coping better with it as I'm not going to the gym anywhere near as much since I got my own erg in December?

Luckily every cold is different so hopefully this won't be a bad one. I'm not feeling too bad so far and it's not got me coughing and sneezing...yet. I need to strike the fine balance between rest and exercise

Back on the water here in Boulder -- just a few ice chunks floating about.

Literally just practicing putting boats into the water, briefly paddling about by 6s and turning for home. Newbies gotta learn somehow ...

It's dark and cold, the stars are out, but it's a start.

Afternoon session of stationary bike at 200 watts for 30 mins, incline dumbbell press 3 X 8 @ #50, 8-5-2 back squats @ #135, #185, #205

Some low DF /

DF 78
That is low... i can't even get it that low on my erg. The lowest reading i can get with the damper lever right down is DF 84.

The strange thing about this piece was how suprisingly hard it was.

10k Time Trial

Time................37:14.6
Pace................1:51.7
SPM.................33
DF...................110

The journey continues.

Happy with this as it was 4 seconds faster than last week (0.2 on average pace) at the same spm and av. HR so getting better.

The only over 60 Lightweight time that's faster on the world rankings is the SB of 36:50.8 I did back in January.....so still more to do if I'm going to improve that....but trying hard!

61 year old, 73.5 kilo (162lbs), 5'8.5''/174cm (always the shortest on the podium!) male. Based in Sussex, just south of London, England. Best 2k recently...6:54.1 on the 11th November 2018.

Overweight 48 year old, first time on a rower in over 10 years, and not much exercise for last 5.

Crept through 2k in just under 10 minutes.

Don't laugh, I'm super happy! lol

I need a program, but intend to be a daily trainer now.
