I was left to my own devices today so wasnt sure what to do. Thought of Stu so i told myself to do an hour. Soon got bored of that and talked myself out at the halfway point and decided on a weights session.
Then after a day of chores i suddenly fancied going for something short and hard - 1km!
Planned to go off hard then just hang on for as long as possible. I was counting 10's from the very start to distract myself. Started getting very hard with 600 left but managed to grind it out for my first ever sub 3 and a 5 second pb
very very happy!

Seriously fast, Ian. Must have hurt a lot as the lactate started to build and the power decayed, but maintaining a rate of 42 is amazing, and the pace is something else!

I'm just grateful that you haven't found a liking for the longer distances, as you're setting the bar way too high for me with the shorter distances.
Sub three is a massive milestone, and five seconds faster, with 600m left to grind out, is very impressive mate.
I'm going to have to try and rewire my brain to accept shorter strokes. I instinctively lengthen my stroke whenever I have tried it before.

I would not be expecting a new attempt from my side any time soon for the 1k

too painful, I am forever a slow twitcher, and I am focusing on the other side of the ladder now(with the 60 min first and foremost, and perhaps HM or 30 min after). Right now I would probably die at 200 meters in if trying to keep up with Ian's pace

I think you Martin would have a far better chance once your body is up for it

PB by 3.9s

Previous PB felt light so thought I could beat it. Would have loved sub 3:20 but maybe after a bit more training.

Hahahahahahahahahaha. I'll enjoy it whilst he hasn't turned his attention to the longer distances. I have accepted months ago that Jo Andre is way past anywhere I could feasibly achieve.
Let me know when you're focusing on the 1k, I'll need to buy some popcorn to settle down and watch the show

Can’t multiquote so will just say thanks all!
Was a funny session as I didn’t die at the finish, just got up and walked off. No erg cough. Very different to my previous, much slower 1kms. So just a magic day!
