Club Row

Post by mitchel674 » November 23rd, 2020, 9:59 am

Tried a new app this weekend called Club Row. It's an interesting format which does utilize data from the Concept2 PM5 quite nicely. Peleton style classes which do display leaderboards based on meters rowed to fuel your inner competitive drive. There are several live classes daily, but there are also quite a few archived classes available.

The classes are music based and paced. I didn't mind the music, but I didn't care for the fact that most of the songs in the class I took required stroke rates between 30-35spm. I'm more of a steady state rower at 20-22spm. Perhaps it's good for me to do some higher rates, but I don't need a 45 minute class at that pace. My perception is that many in the class are not great rowers. I was able to easily top the 17 others in the class. The instructors preach a very shortened stroke at these high rates.

I'm in my 2 week trial. Not sure I will join at $15/month, but I suspect this would appeal to those who view rowing as just a quick 30 minute workout and like the various muscial choices and upbeat instructors.

It's iOS. No wonder I couldn't find it.

Yes, it seems to be iOS only at this point.
