Power meter for rowing machine??
Re: Power meter for rowing machine??
How ironic that a C2 erg, which provides the user essentially all the information he or she could desire, is being asked to compensate for the inadequacies of a competing device that is not able to do that.
Re: Power meter for rowing machine??
Then what?Athlete's power output at the level of handlebar so that bypassing any unmeasured energy losses in the system.
Rowing is done by finding how to match the changing force/speed combinations that appear during the successive phases of the stroke (aka impedance), and the easily calculated inertial losses are controllable via rating. You won't see any of this by instrumenting the handle, only the heat generated in the tranmission, which will be too small to separate from noise.

Re: Power meter for rowing machine??
There is an Android app called Smart row that claims to transform the water rower into a lab grade ergometer, with the Smart row conversion.
I don't use a Water rower & so can't personally vouch for this conversion, but looking at the graphics, the power curve screen is much more detailed than the PM5, similar to the RP3 software.
Hope this info will be helpful.

To be honest this was the reason I have stared searching about a "universally" compatible power meter.

Re: Power meter for rowing machine??
I have started thinking about power meter at the level of handlebar after had come across this study https://analytics.rowsandall.com/2017/0 ... ndall-com/jamesg wrote: ↑January 14th, 2021, 2:39 amThen what?Athlete's power output at the level of handlebar so that bypassing any unmeasured energy losses in the system.

Can I remind folks that on this forum that's owned and managed by Concept2 you are NOT ALLOWED to discuss Brand-X products from other ergo manufacturers.
Take your discussion to Row2K (or the forum owned by Brand-X).

Citroen, appreciate your forbearance here. You see appends instantly. You likely considered shutting this down a few time, but waited and let things flow. That says a lot about Concept2 as a company, and they are all positive. Well done.

Don't mind trolls. But when the discussion reaches the Godwin's Law level then the 2x4 ban stick will be wielded.GreenStratMan wrote: ↑January 14th, 2021, 1:40 pmI’m just wondering when the goats might arrive, rickety bridge and all that ;o)
Re: Power meter for rowing machine??
I am so grateful for your time and efforts to provide me with any information about my query. In any case it looks like that there is no such thing as a widely compatible kind of power meter attachment for rowing machines. I would like thank you once more for your consideration. Have a nice day
