... The working set was a genuinely fairly leisurely 6:34.4 at R25.
I’ve trained for 10 months - 3 million meters - to drag myself to near death to get to 6:34.6. 🤣

I'm just fortunate (as regards rowing) to be stupidly tall.

If it's any consolation, the flipside is a horrible tendency towards niggling injuries. I've always had it - I grew too fast in my teens and my connective tissue/ligament strength is poor. It's a constant battle not to injure myself

I hear you. Exactly the same problem I've had to deal with throughout life. Though we are on opposite ends of the physical spectrum. You're big & tall. I'm small & short. Kinda ironic, really.

It just comes down to individual constitutions I guess. I'm sorry to hear that you're in the same boat as me.

I've always done fairly well in any sport I've tried, but I always get injured. I remember having back pain as young as 8. I'm just a bit too tall for it to be practical

My osteopath reckons it's just a slightly strained muscle and nothing to worry about. It has been getting better, and I think it was the insane HM that really aggravated it a few weeks back.

Onward and upward :D

Glad it's not something serious & you are on the mend. No HM's for you for a while.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling top notch Big J, I seldom visit this part of the forums, but I had seen that there were less posts from you side, so I had to investigate it further, and found this :)

No more HM's for you for a while(probably best for all of us  )! Pulling a 6:35 R25 is real brutal, very promising!

Thanks chaps.

I am definitely happy to let that HM time stand for the time being. I think it stands as one of the most unpleasant athletic endeavours I've ever undertaken.

The more time I spend doing R20s and R22s for 30 minutes, the lower I seem to rate on higher paced pieces, but without losing pace. The issue is controlling heart rate, which is obviously higher for lower rate rowing.

I'll let this pain in the arse arse ache drift firmly into the rear view mirror and get that 6:20 2k nailed :D
