Owls are returning to trailside as owlets get older!

As the area north of here continues to fill in, it is harder to hear the cows bellowing - and this may indeed be the last Spring where the cows are pastured up by the regional airport. The greenbelt that is home to many great horned owls will probably be spared for now. I love the rural feel of this area, yet appreciate the paved trails that are woven through the area. It encourages a lot of people to walk! Not too long ago, the area was 33 acres of cows and prairie rodents. There were more raptors. Now a mixture of land use types is bringing in some commercial entities (rooftops = tax base), and upgraded road infrastructure to handle the semi tractors that are pulling double trailers (tandems, or doubles?). We can hear the FedEx docks throughout the night as trucks and trailers are loaded. BUT. There is still suburban wildlife!

It's been a few years since the release of Zelda: Breath of the Wild video game - one that was such a step forward in adventure game design that many who might not have tried out this entertainment decided to jump in. I was one of those, and found that I needed to learn some basics before I could even get my character off the first set of challenges. Now, media releases are saying that the long anticipated next adventure of the character Link in these Nintendo games is available: Tears of the Kingdom. There is something about adventure stories, and the promise of new worlds and new learnings that is very appealing - which is probably why I find myself on galactic journeys! We'll see how many hours I have to put into learning something that an 8 year old can do so easily! Like other brain games, this is sure to help build new neural pathways! Sometimes you have to back up to go forward!
