Its not often you're dissappointed with a 2k PB.
Congrats to all you pb's - sorry for not commenting sooner!

My turn today on a 5k - like most mine it was on a whim - I'd said to my mum over easter that I was as fit or fitter than when I did the marathon, I just needed to translate the mental side to push on.

I find the 5k tough - enough power that I feel it in my legs, and hard enough on the lungs that I struggle there too.

did a 10.7k hike on Sunday with ~500m of vertical up and then down, and then had 2 days rest so while I was a little tired from poor sleep, I was physically fresh.

Took a couple of mins to get up afterwards, so pleased with how this came out - no dips or blips that the summary table can sometimes hide log; probably had a few extra watts or so in the tank based on the final split and pace at the finish

Code: Select all

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M Hr
20:24.3 5,000 2:02.4 191 956 27 173
2:34.4 625 2:03.5 186 939 27 152
2:34.5 1,250 2:03.6 185 937 28 164
2:33.9 1,875 2:03.1 188 945 28 170
2:34.3 2,500 2:03.4 186 940 27 174
2:33.3 3,125 2:02.6 190 953 27 179
2:33.1 3,750 2:02.4 190 955 27 181
2:32.5 4,375 2:02.0 193 963 26 181
2:28.2 5,000 1:58.5 210 1022 27 184
- this is actually right on my "pauls law" predicted 5k pace & I smashed my target of 185W in the process.

Previous PB: 20:42.9 Mar '24 just before the marathon

Congrats to p_b82 and bassongirl for the 5K PBs.

I fulfilled my (self-imposed) contract today with a 10K PB: 39:23.1 down from the previous 39:48.5.

Code: Select all

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M HR
39:23.1 10,000 1:58.1 212 1030 26 171
3:54.8 1,000 1:57.4 216 1044 27 158
3:55.0 2,000 1:57.5 216 1042 27 164
3:54.7 3,000 1:57.3 217 1045 27 166
3:55.2 4,000 1:57.6 215 1040 27 170
3:56.5 5,000 1:58.2 212 1028 27 169
3:56.7 6,000 1:58.3 211 1026 26 174
3:58.7 7,000 1:59.3 206 1008 26 174
3:57.9 8,000 1:58.9 208 1015 26 178
3:59.4 9,000 1:59.7 204 1002 26 177
3:54.1 10,000 1:57.0 218 1051 27 184
A bit shy of my -1.5s/500m target improvement (did only -1.3s/500m), but that's OK as I trained mostly for the shorter stuff since January. I found the 10K harder than my recent 5K. It's also getting a bit hotter here (22C today during the TT, was 14-16C up to 2 days ago).

Trimming my HM PB would be the cherry on top, but I'm really unconvinced that's within reasonable reach.
Will give it a try, what's there to lose anyway ? :)

Given what you've managed this year already, I'm sure you've got some gains to be found on the HM - even if it does maybe sneak into next season but still '25!

Congrats to p_b82 and bassongirl for the 5K PBs.

I fulfilled my (self-imposed) contract today with a 10K PB: 39:23.1 down from the previous 39:48.5.

Code: Select all

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M HR
39:23.1 10,000 1:58.1 212 1030 26 171
3:54.8 1,000 1:57.4 216 1044 27 158
3:55.0 2,000 1:57.5 216 1042 27 164
3:54.7 3,000 1:57.3 217 1045 27 166
3:55.2 4,000 1:57.6 215 1040 27 170
3:56.5 5,000 1:58.2 212 1028 27 169
3:56.7 6,000 1:58.3 211 1026 26 174
3:58.7 7,000 1:59.3 206 1008 26 174
3:57.9 8,000 1:58.9 208 1015 26 178
3:59.4 9,000 1:59.7 204 1002 26 177
3:54.1 10,000 1:57.0 218 1051 27 184
A bit shy of my -1.5s/500m target improvement (did only -1.3s/500m), but that's OK as I trained mostly for the shorter stuff since January. I found the 10K harder than my recent 5K. It's also getting a bit hotter here (22C today during the TT, was 14-16C up to 2 days ago).

Trimming my HM PB would be the cherry on top, but I'm really unconvinced that's within reasonable reach.
Will give it a try, what's there to lose anyway ? :)
Great stuff, on a rather unpleasant distance!

And we're done (well, for the season): HM PB 1:25:15.6 (was 1:26.04.6).

Didn't want to push hard at the end, fearing last minute cramps or something wrecking it, but overall not paced too badly for my standards.

Considering you were reluctant to even contemplate doing this, you've properly smashed this out of the park. Excellent finish to the season
