Thanks Tom. My problems with that link exist on several levels. First, I get the following when I track to the individuals for 2004 where the graph on stroke rate should be: "JpGraph Error. Can't create directory/home. Make sure PHP has write permission to this directory."

I do not get the same deror message for 2005 results. That's how I knew what I was missing was stroke rate.

But a much large issue is that even if I could get to the graph for each competitor in 2004, WOW, what a diligence task! If you graphed this you must have some kind of excel with finish time and average stroke rate, don't you?

My interest was significantly more casual (I'd have put in 45 minutes or so) than would be required to gather this data on 800 competitors going from one to the next.

Tom, did you graph EIRC 2004 from something? Or did you mean BIRC 2004, for which split/stroke data is available by heat and competitor, on line?

See e.g. http://www.concept2.co.uk/birc/data2005 ... 20Data.txt, which is a comma-delimited text file showing Time, Meters, and Current_Pace,Stroke_Rate for each stroke taken by the competitors in the Men's Open final/Race 30....

No definitely EIRC 2004. I was there :)
I found the Excel sheet that contains the graph on my computer. I think the data was on the organizers web site for a few months, but it is not any more.

If you are interested in the Excel sheet I can send it to you.
