How Loud?

Post by michaeln » January 15th, 2007, 3:05 pm

I'm planning on ordering a Model D in the very near future.

How loud are they? I have watched DVDs and I understand what they sound like, but I can't tell if that is a quiet sound or a loud one.

Never mind. I did some searching (which I should have done before posting), and apparently the model D is pretty quiet.

It's loud enough for my neighbour to complain when I row out on the balcony late at night. :(

That surprises me. Our bedroom is two levels... we sleep on the upper level, and I row on the lower level. I've been rowing in the early morning since the HC started, and my husband doesn't even wake up. And I've got an early Model C, no less. I suspect your neighbor is objecting to his/her feelings of sedentary guilt more than to the noise of the rower. B)

(Then again, I probably pull at half the decibels you do, on a good day.)

It's reasonable to assume it's not as loud as my '92 851 with the CF Termignonis?

Try not to scream before, during and after your workouts!
That might help! :D :D :D

It did. It had a ventilated clutch cover too to add to the music. I sold it in 1994 though.

A friend has a 996 with a perf'd cover. I love that rattle. Too bad you don't have the 851 anymore... but that means there's room in your garage for a 1098, right?
