2K challenge week 51
Since I didn't actually achieve my 10K goal, I suppose I could weasel out of the 1:25:00 target. It would be a nice little benefit of having failed!Gerhard wrote:So David, now that you've (probably) somewhat returned to your senses: what is your REAL target for the HM?
I'll regret it, but 1:25:00 it is.

How about joining Tom and me at 1:25:00? For one thing, you have a better 10K time than either of us. Also, you could repeat your recent 60-minute row, then add less than 6K at 2:05 or so.Stefan wrote:Yes, OK but I have no clue of a target. 1,28?

This is my favorite part of the challenge -- goading others into setting more aggressive targets!

I agree with David. About the favorite part of the challenge. And about a better goal for Stefan.DUThomas wrote:How about joining Tom and me at 1:25:00? 1:25:00 really is too light a goal for you stefan. How about 1:24:23? That is a nice 2:00.0 pace.

This morning I did 4x 1k at 3:50.0 with 4 minute rests.
3:54.8 3:49.9 3:48.6 3:46.5
My goal for the challenge is to trim my 2k SB of 7:43.6 on Saturday.
Update Friday: I'm due for and in more need of a longer session, so am going to do one in the morning instead of a 2k.

07.03,7
31 spm on average with the following split:
1.44,8
1.46,0
1.46,6
1.46,3
I was still chasing holiday challenge meters so I may have overdone the warm up a bit with 5 km. That is more than I am used to. I felt like I was flying the first 500 at 33 spm without notable effort, but than... well, you know. A day on airplanes and airplane food was also not perfect but it did feel fine.
10 minutes cool down brought me past the 200 k challenge as well, so I am happily coughing in front of my laptop.
That will be the end of that for a while. Now I am of to Hawaii early tomorrow morning.
Merry Christmas all and thanks for the sparring!

Your splits added up to 7:00.7 -- Was that your actual time? Or did you write the splits down incorrectly?
For my 2K effort, I also did a 5K warmup (at 2:03), then rested for 4 or 5 minutes. I don't know if that's too much, but it seemed to agree with me (on that day, anyway).
Have a great trip!

I tried a fast HM yesterday. It was not all-out overall but the final 8K were tough and the final 4K was close to max (1:59-2:01)tomhz wrote:1:25:00 it is. My PB is 1:24:46 from 2 years ago. I never got sub 1:26 since then.
result: 1:26:10 (2:02.5 pace)
So I think I am on schedule , but today my body tells me something else.

OK, can all of you 2K and 10K challengers confirm their goals for the HM challenge in week 7? I will edit this post with your answers:DUThomas wrote:
On to the HM challenge!
- David: 1h25:00 (I admire your courage!
)
Stefan: 1h25:00 (hands down, I think)
Tom: 1h25:00 (not a soft target)
Andy: 1h30:00 (possibly a faster target after week 3?)
Gerhard: 1h30:00 (HM is unknown area for Gerhard. Who knows?)
John: 1h26:20 (That is a hard target, John. Nice!)
