The 2008 Team Moto Madmen and Women
Ok everybody here is our team Forum. Lets all keep in touch and wish each other well. I hope every body has a safe and Happy New Year. Remember Rowing is a great way to wear off a hangover. Or a great a great way to start the best year of training ever. The goal is to always try and end every year in the best shape of your life. - Greg
Ok. I took one for the team today and did something I've never done - row non-stop for one hour! My training to date has consisted mainly of 500m intervals and nothing farther than 2000m in one shot. Today I knocked out 13,543m! My goal was 14,000 but I'm just happy to finish. In retrospect, it wasn't really that bad.
I'm a speed/high-intensity guy by nature and I was afraid that I would have a difficult time parking my butt on the erg that long. Time actually went by pretty quickly. Physically, it wasn't that difficult either but that is more a matter of effort on my part. I was afraid to push too hard for fear that I wouldn't be able to complete my objective. That will change on my next time out and, hopefully, I can reach my goal of 14,000m.
Just to give you (and me) some perspective, my total meters and total time for the ENTIRE MONTH of December were 42,480m and 2:38:50 respectively. Today's row, therefore, represents 32% of my December meters and 38% of my total time!

Seeing what you did was great motivation Steve. I rowed a full monty, plus a little more to get me in the top three. I had a little hiccup doing the full marathon (one of my breaks let the computer time out and shut down my workout) but all in all I feel pretty good. I really wanted that Marathon Mug and I was holding a 2:15/500m average (not counting breaks) so I'm pumped to do it again next week maybe. We'll see how long it takes for me to recover.

OUCH!!!!
OK, I did it. I took one for the team! (ahem)
Half-marathons suck (at least that's what every screaming muscle is saying right now). This lightweight girly-girl is humbled by the torturous design of her machine... wow. I am proud of myself, one down, full marathon to go, sometime this month... OUCH!
I am going to bed now to mercifully lose consciousness... tomorrow is definitely a rest day!

Lots of enthusiasm and motivation, awesome. I was inspired, so I rowed a half marathon. After I saw Sean's full marathon, I decided to at least go halfway. Then Gypsy took one for the team ( ahem ) and pulled a half, and well... I can't ignore such a challenge.
I am ordering a seat pad for this thing right now.

I used to live with Brad Villand. Rumor has it that he might compete at Nationals for next season (Trials) since there is minimal travel.2whlrcr wrote:Do you know Brad Villand?Watercross Racer wrote:I'm in, I hope that you don't mind a watercross racer on board (Standup Jetskis).
Thanks for the challenge!

Wow, a full marathon on the first day? Way cool, Sean! I can see I'm going to have some tough competition here! That's OK, cuz that's why I'm here.RadioFlyer wrote:Seeing what you did was great motivation Steve. I rowed a full monty, plus a little more to get me in the top three. Just hope I can keep up!
I should probably introduce myself, my name is Kevin & I'm trying to get in shape for a Saddle Sore 1K this spring. Also trying to lose some weight to get my diabetes under control.

Hey Everyone
Hey everyone, Tim here with Racer X Virtual Trainer. After reading the previous posts, I feel like a sloth. I only did 5000 meters today. Guess I'll have to start to pick it up a bit. Remember, our motocross manhood has been challenged by those skinny little row boys that Greg works with. don't let them win!
