followed a lot of advice given, and did a steady 1:57/500m with neg. splits (last 2000 1:56 - 1:55) for a steady 39:06 for the 10km.
i guess thars the advantage of starring late - 47 and still beating last seasons best times.
tbh it was only moderatly hard - i was just trying to keep a constant 1:57 220W pull.
all down to the guys (an gals) that keep me motivated and give advice.

Good job, Dean. What stroke rate did you end up using?

C2 has 4:00 as an official ranking distance, and it happens to be the Indoor Rowers League first monthly team challenge. My second attempt this month (first was 1219m, 1:38.4):
new PR: 1229m - 1:37.7
Was at about 1:39.5 with 1:20 to go, the final 4 x 20-second splits:
1:37.1
1:36.2
1:31.7
1:32.6
Pleased with it, as I have done just a few sprint efforts since last season. Interesting distance as a pacing opportunity;., hope to incorporate it into 2k training come December

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Pacing was poor.
I didn't really know what to go for since I have only tested once since I got back to training and that was a while ago, so my times have been improving a lot. I found myself going out at a pace which I though would be challenging but ended up feeling easy about 3-4k in. I ended up doing a negative split and sprinting at a 1:42.0 for the last 1k. My first 4k or so were at 1:47.0-1:47.5 then I worked it down to 1:45.0 until the final sprint.
At least now I have a better idea of how to pace next time. The one positive side of this is that you don't suffer nearly as much when you go out slower. Really only felt the pain in the last 3k or so as I brought up the rate and the splits down.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

i wrote a couple of posts earlier about my 10k pb.
though i'd try to sub 39 with a 1:57 pace and empty the tanks.
started off at 1:56 and dropped the hammer with about 1k to go.
quite suprised and don't feel that bad actually.
i also took advantage of the rowpro 25% off coupon until end of september - so i t was really a row pro test.
