Persisting drop-down menus

Post by Alissa » March 9th, 2010, 2:52 pm

The drop-down menus (see below) are a little persistent. Here, it's a little dificult to type the topic subject--can't check for typos until I preview the post.

In fact, I can't get them to go away without going to another window (using the back-button)--or "choosing" to see a different menu. It is annoying to try to avoid having my cursor cross the line of links that produces those menus. Especially when I'm selecting a new tab to read the next topic. (It's one thing to trust to my typing, while verifying with a preview, but another entirely to not be able to read text behind the menu.)

Is there anything you can do about the persistence of these menus?

Thanks!

Alissa

Normal question: which browser? on which platform?

The menus work for me on FF3.6 on WinXP pro.

IE8 on Windows7. I've put IE8 in "compatibility mode" since otherwise a reply window won't scroll correctly. (When in compatibility mode, the scrolling problem is fixed.) But I had the drop-down menu problem before I put IE8 in compatibility mode...so compatibility mode can't be the problem.

Thanks for your help,

Alissa

Ah, sorry I can't help further I don't have IE8 (or Win7). It's working on IE7 on WinXP pro. We'll have to wait for David Hart to have a look at why his forum_fn.js or JQuery stuff has an IE8 bug.

OK; it seems to have been a CSS quirk in IE8 when running in compatibility mode. This should hopefully be fixed now, but let me know if you have any further issues.

Best,

Thanks David!

It's fixed for me now. Thanks!

But I should note that the problem existed before I put IE8 in compatibility mode. So you may still have a problem when IE8 isn't in compatibility mode.

Thanks again,

Alissa
