Vaccinations and training

Post by asykes » January 16th, 2009, 12:56 pm

I have recently had a number of vaccinations for a trip to India, some of which are live vaccines. I have noticed that my training has suffered: on a recent 3x2500m my 500m pace fell from 1:45 to 1:48 average. Has anyone else had the same experince or is aware of any research into the effects on athletic performance of vaccination?

asykes,

In October, I recieved a Hep A, Infulenza, Adult Polio, Typhoid and one other vaccination that I do not remember off the top of my head. I also needed them for a trip to India. I felt a little run down and fluey for the next 48 hours and was fine. Had I rowed during this time I am sure I would have felt a difference.

Could be a coincidence I am sure but I have never experienced more, cold/sinus infections during the winter than this year. I usually suffer one cold maybe but this year I had a cold which turned into sinus infection that would not go away and lasted just short of two months.
